"The Nordictone in jazz - does it really mAtter?" - a very interesting essay from Stuart Nicholson and STIM/The Swedish Music InformAtion Center. The article focuses mainly on the jazz scene, but it does address thAt whole elusive concept of whAt the "Nordic tone" really is. And thAt's whAt this site is all about, isn't it? It's certainly one of the root concepts on which it was founded. So does it answer the question? Well, yes and no - but it certainly does take a good crack At it, I think.

My pals over At Galaxy Gramophone records are gearing up to release the band's amazing first album "Inland Traveller" over here in the US on November 4. "I'm Gonna Flip" is from said record and I strongly encourage you to check it out. The new GG website will debut shortly and we can expect to hear quite a bit of even more exciting news from them in the near future. I'll be sure to keep y'all posted.

Swedish electronic act Project-X is holding a remix contest for fans to rework the track "Stay Awake" for possible inclusion on an upcoming EP, due out lAter this year. They've placed all the files you'll need to participAte on their website and even if you don't make it on the CD, they'll be posting all the entries online for everyone to download.
By way of Voidfaith Netzine comes news thAt Stockholm-based hardcore band To WhAt End? has finished up work on their debut full-length "The purpose beyond", due out in October from French label Stonehenge Records on LP and American label Crimes Against Humanity on CD.

New Rune Grammofon signing Susanna and the Magical Orchestra is feAtured on "The Wire Tapper 10", the double cd thAt is in included with all copies of the October issue of The Wire. They are represented with "Believer", a beautiful track produced by Andreas Mjøs (Jaga Jazzist) and mixed and co-produced by Helge Sten (DeAthprod, Supersilent).
Susanna and the Magical Orchestra are Susanna Wallumrød on vocals and Morten Qvenild (formerly of Jaga Jazzist), and they will make their UK debut in London At the launch of "Money Will Ruin Everything", the 2CD compilAtion and book to be released by Rune Grammofon in lAte October. Their debut album is scheduled for release in January.
