Speaking of Dadde, he also sends word that Wolfbrigade are currently in pre-production for their 8th album which will be recorded at Studio Fredman, their first time there since 1997. And as for Asta Kask, the band will be releasing a split 7" with Japanese act Crispy Nuts and will also be touring their with them over in their part of the world this coming February. They're also working on their very first US tour which should happen around May or June, I'm presuming to coincide with Chaos in Tejas which will be June 2-5 this coming year.
Soma is a Stockholm-based band featuring members from Wolfbrigade, Shades of Grey and Dollhouse that has existed since 2007, but is only now getting out of the rehearsal space for their very first gigs:
11/20 - Kafé 44, Stockholm (SWE)
11/26 - LiWi, Liepzig (GER) w/Saviours
11/27 - Scharni28, Berlin (GER)
As for the sound, drummer Dadde describes it as follows: "The music is heavy, metallic and complex yet there's plenty of melodies and from time to time our roots in the crustpunk-movement shine through, but the use of samplers and keyboards make a big difference from our past bands, and the result is an experimental pedal-driven stonerrock/death metal/hardcorepunk with samplers, keyboards and influences from world music." The band plans to record their debut album "The dark chapters" this coming spring.

Sju Svåra År is the name of a very promising new Swedish punk act featuring ex-members from Burning Kitchen, Satirnine and Wolfbrigade. The band already has a 11-song LP under their belt that they are shopping around, so expect to hear lots more about them soon. In the meantime, hear a few samples at myspace: http://www.myspace.com/sjusvaraar
Sarcastic punk zine iconoclasts "Skitliv!" pay tribute to themselves with a double-disc collection of cuts from (almost) every artist they ever interviewed and that adds up to ten issues and 48 tracks of uncompromising Swedish d-beat/käng/råpunk. Most of the big names are represented, from old-timers such as Anti Cimex, Moderat Likvidation and Mob 47 to Wolfbrigade, Disfear, Skitsystem and Victims, as well as up-and-comers like Tortyr, Kvoteringen, Giftgasattack and truckloads more. Of course the quality here runs the gamut, be it related to songwriting or recording, but it kind of doesn't matter in end because it all starts to blend together after 20 minutes or so. On the other hand, as a genre-dabbler, it's a great resource to have because the song selection is so all-encompassing and overwhelming; I'm sure I'll be going back to revisit in smaller doses to pick out new favorites. For everyone else, especially if your only knowledge of Swedish punk is limited to the mediocre "Svenska Punkklassiker" discs, the uncompromising, unrelenting hardcore noise attack of "Skitliv!" is a great overview of a much-heralded underground scene well worth investigating, even it does veer towards overkill.

Wolfbrigade continues their d-beat odyssey with a record so intense that it will definitely convince those who still cling to the band's much idolized Wolfpack era to reconsider the result of their transformation. Although, "transformation" might be a strong word for explaining the band's musical reconfiguration which became increasingly apparent in "In darkness you feel no regrets" and "A d-beat odyssey", it is at least useful to understand why some diehard fans were highly disappointed with the post-2000 records of the Wolves. "Comalive", released only a year after the band's somewhat mediocre reunion album "Prey to the world", brilliantly combines the blistering speed and ferocity of the Wolfpack years with the terrific melodic precision of the new era. Contrary to the previous Wolfbrigade outputs which were dominantly composed of mid-tempo d-beat songs ("Progression/Regression" may be considered as an exception to this aspect), "Comalive" is remarkably faster and has a strikingly powerful production. The band retains its characteristic cold, metallic edge and the quality production adds up to the record being the band's strongest release since "Allday hell". From the blazing opener "In adrenaline" to anthemic "Skulls of doom" and rifftastic "Barren dreams", "Comalive" irrefutably proves that Wolfbrigade is still as good as they used to be ten years ago.
