The new book/cd project "århus:nu" spotlighting the scene of Århus, Denmark is now done. It's 110 pages and covers local bands such as Under Byen, Tiger Tunes, Powersolo, Strumm, Singvogel & Peter Laugesen, Sofus Forsberg, Kurve, Jab Mica Och El and The Defectors along with labels and promoters like Morningside Records, Noisejihad, Bird Hits Plane Records, LJUD and Skand-All. The CD contains tracks from those same bands, of course. More info: http://www.aarhus-nu.dk/

In case you hadn't noticed, Lars Kjaer Dideriksen of Danish music site Supertanker.tk has been conspicuously absent recently and he's finally come clean with what he's been up to. It seems that he is currently very busy working on an upcoming book/CD/website spotlighting the city of Aarhus, Denmark. That includes up and coming bands such as Under Byen, Tiger Tunes, Powersolo, Strumm, Singvogel and more. More info coming soon, but you can get an overview here for now: http://www.aarhus-nu.dk/

Supertanker.tk is reporting that Under Byen composer Katrine Stochholm is working on a solo album with Howe Gelb of Giant Sand. It's said to feature some of the same "dreamy" qualities as UB and is expected out sometime this spring. Head over to get more details, as well as the latest round-up of Danish music news.

New bands confirmed for the Øyafestivalen in Norway: Thom Hell, The Beautiful People, Mattias Tellez and Under Byen.

It looks like I can now confirm the lineup for the upcoming Norway/Denmark showcase happening at SXSW this year. It's gonna be Under Byen (DK), Thomas Dybdahl (NOR), El Caco (NOR), Hush (DK), The Defectors (DK) and Silver (NOR). It's set to go down March 20 at Carribean Lights, but remember that big events like these are always subject to change.

Denmark's Under Byen is the first band I've heard to be officially confirmed for SXSW this coming March in Austin, TX. Or at least, that's what Supertanker is saying. Who's gonna buy me a ticket and fly me out?

Tim Christensen, Kira And The Kindred Spirits and Under Byen are the first three acts confirmed for next year's Roskilde Festival in Denmark on July 1-4. More info: http://www.roskilde-festival.dk/

There's also plans for a German tour in the works, but so far the only show they have there is this Saturday at Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.

Supertanker has posted the details about the new soundtrack for the soundtrack of the new Danish film "2 Ryk Og En Aflevering" ("2 Moves and a Pass"). The record features a whole bunch of different Scandinavian artists, including Håkan Hellström, Tiger Tunes and Kaizers Orchestra along with the first new material from Under Byen since April 2002. Danish indie BirdHitsPlane Records will release it on September 29.

And in other Under Byen news, the band has lined up a gig in Hamburg, Germany on October 11 at Schauspielhaus. There were originally going to be other dates scheduled around this one, but they have been postponed for the time being.
