The Soundtrack of Our Lives have done a video/theme song for the Swedish TV show 'CP-Magasinet'. Read more: http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/noje/story/0,2789,470369,00.html (in Swedish)
My understanding is that this tune might end up as their next web-single. We shall see.

The guys in The Soundtrack of Our Lives feel really bad about all the delays and so they're giving something back to the fans in the form of web-only demo singles. Fans who join up at the Tsool.net website will receive a new mp3 every month until the new album is finally released. The first one is "A Room Without a View" and was recorded March-April 1995 by Ebbot and Björn on their portable 8-track. Check it: http://tsool.net/kort/aroo_at.htm

BD is also now scheduled to play Arvika along with new Scandinavian additions Jens Lekman, Meshuggah, Sophie Rimheden, The Soundtrack of Our Lives and The Sweetbacks.

Tsool.net reports that Ian and Ebbot from The Soundtrack of Our Lives teamed up with Division of Laura Lee to record a cover of Minor Threat's "Don’t Wanna Hear it" for an upcoming comp. That sounds, uh, interesting?

On Monday December 22, The Soundtrack of Our Lives will be releasing an exclusive web Christmas special through the official Mega Society fansite at Tsool.net. I've been fortunate enough to get a preview of the material and of course it's awesome. Tack Mantra!

The Soundtrack of Our Lives and Jens Lekman (aka Rocky Dennis) are among the first acts confirmed for next year's Avrika festival in July. More info: http://www.galaxen.se/

The Soundtrack of Our Lives will perform their brand new single "Ecstasy" at Filmgalan (the Swedish Oscars) on January 26. And their record company is now saying the single will be released in January too, not before Christmas as previously reported.

The Soundtrack of Our Lives album "Behind the Music" was just reissued in Australia by Warner subsidary Infidelity Records and is being promoted with renewed vigor. The extra cool thing about this release is that it's being packaged with a bonus CD containing both the "Gimme Five" EP and the "Future Excerpts" EP. North American fans luck out because Parasol will be importing a few for you record collectors out there who just need to have every release, TSOOL freaks that they are. It's not on their site, but I'm told that you can either email or call for pre-orders.

In other TSOOL news, I just got word that "Ecstacy" will be the name of their new single and it's due out sometime before Christmas. Otherwise, recordings are going well and they supposedly have about 26 songs tracked so far. They recorded quite a few of the songs debuted at the Slussens gigs, but aren't gonna include all of them because they don't want the album to be too mellow. More news when I get it...

The Ricochets are confirmed to play the Eurosonic Festival in the Netherlands on January 9 next year. Details are here. Other Scandinavian acts set to play include Ane Brun (NOR), Baby Woodrose (DK), Don Johnson Big Band (FIN), Hell On Wheels (SWE), Mew (DK), Ralph Myerz & the Jack Herren Band (NOR), Soulvation (NL), The Soundtrack Of Our Lives (SWE), and Under Byen (DK).

Unioncarbideproductions.com sadly reports that the much-anticipated box set has been postponed indefinitely because Ebbot is too busy working with current band The Soundtrack of Our Lives and label MNW seems likely to be closing in the near future. More details when I get them.

Word on the street has it that The Soundtrack of Our Lives has recorded a total of 25 new songs for their next record and still has 10 more to go. However, the band only plans on using 10-11 of them for the actual record as they'd prefer to keep things short. So where will the rest end up? EPs and singles?

"For many music aficionados, or maybe just Swedish culture sycophants, the last year has seen the Swedish pop-crazy stigma fade with bands like The Hives, The Soundtrack of Our Lives, The Sounds, and The International Sound Conspiracy [ed: obviously wrong] getting gigs on late-night talk shows and ubiquitous retail space with their edgy rock sound. This constant influx of Swedish bands feels like an invasion that will never end - much like the Viking invasions of England during the 9th and 10th centuries. Luckily for us, they're not here to plunder; they're here to rock the house."

Read more in this interview with Opeth's Mikael Åkerfeldt from the Colorado Daily in which he talks a bit about the Swedish scene and the differences between European and American metal fans.

The Soundtrack of Our Lives finally got themselves an official fanclub - the Mega Society. Go to tsool.tk for more info.

Okay, I think things here are pretty much back on track. After further discussion with my webhost it appears that yes, they bungled the switching of a hard drive this past weekend and lost about 5 days worth of database data. Luckily, Google had it cached and I've been able to recover most of it exactly as it was before. I'm still a bit peeved at the situation, but there's not much I can do. Anyhow, I only have one day's worth of data to recover and that ain't bad. Also, anyone who signed up for the newsletter after Monday needs to do so again, too. So yeah, now let's get back to your regular programming...

Okay, I'm totally pissed off because my webhost fucked up and somehow erased all my database information from the last week. Whether or not they'll be able to bring it back remains to be seen, but I am obviously not happy about the situation. So yeah, if you see weird things happening to the site, chances are it is not my fault.

UPDATE: I managed to recover a bit of last week's info from Google's cache (with the kind help of DJ Martian), but not everything is back to normal. I've got the info stashed away somewhere, but I'm still hoping that my webhost comes through for me with the backup.
