"Clark" is the debut single from Slowgold's upcoming self-titled debut, due out August 24 via . Quite a bit different from the label's other acts such as Nitad and Bombus, but that's by no means a bad thing!
Been meaning to get this written up for over a week now, but I haven't found the time and now that I'm about head out on vacation to Sweden for a couple weeks, I figure I need to get at least something up. So without further ado, here's my picks for the best releases of 2012 so far (in alphabetical order):
Agent Side Grinder - Hardware () Beastmilk - Use your deluge () Diskoteket - Det ska se ut som slutet () Magnus Ekelund & Stålet - Supernova EP () Nitad - Rastlös & vild () Susanne Sundfør - The silicone veil () Tvärvägen - Staring directly into the sun () Vånna Inget - Jag ska fly tills jag hittar hem ()
On the cusp/too early to tell: Anchorless - Every nook and cranny () Norra Kust - s/t () Westkust - Junk EP ()
Reissues: Missbrukarna - Zooma in en zombie () Ratsia - Jäljet ()
Listen to a selection of these records below via Spotify:
Straight out the gate on their new album "Rastlös och vild", Nitad is in full-on bulldozer mode, leveling everything in their path with Pissed Jeans-style riffing and unhinged vocals. They pick up the pace for much of the rest of the LP, but I remain partial to these heavy, mid-tempo moments which show the gubbestyrka in full plumage. Easily a top-10 HC release for 2012.
It's a slow newsday due to the Easter holiday weekend, but not all of us get the day off y'know. To help you make it through, allow me to recommend Nitad's excellent new album "Rastlös och vild", now on Spotify. Jesus would approve.
New postpunk/hardcore from Pig Eyes, a new act featuring current and ex-members from bands such as Nitad, In Solitude, Trapdoor Fucking Exit and Kvoteringen. Look for a 12" EP to be released via later this year.
Swedish hardcore act Förmögenhet have a brand new 7" out now via called "Rester med gäster" and, as the title implies, it features a variety of guest vocalists including folks from Nitad, Section 8, In Solitude and Between Us. It's also limited to a mere 100 copies so act fast if you want one.
