Fuck your scene, kid vol. 3 sent to press

The 3rd volume of Kranium Records' "Fuck your scene, kid" 7" split series, this one featuring heavyweights Kvoteringen and Nitad, has been sent off to the pressing plant.

Fuck your scene, kid vol. 3 = Nitad vs. Kvoteringen

Kranium Records has announced that volume 3 of their "Fuck your scene, kid" split 7" series will feature Nitad and Kvoteringen, two fine Swedish hardcore bands. The planned Nitad EP that Kranium was supposed to do is still happening, but it's be pushed back to early 2010.

New Nitad EP in fall

There will be a new Nitad EP released via Kranium Records this fall. Details to come...

Nitad tour antics land them in hot water

Apparently Nitad managed to get themselves arrested while on tour in the US. Good luck making that court date dudes!

Nitad giveaway reminder

Reposting just in case you missed it: I still have a small stack of Nitad's excellent CD "Ibland kan man inte hindran sig själv" to give away and all you gotta do to get one is email nitad-contest@itsatrap.com. Give your address, get a CD, you dig? It's a killer disc too- besides the album, it also has all of the band's previous EP tracks tacked on as a bonus. Can't go wrong! Also, don't forget to check out the band at No Way Fest in Richmond, VA this weekend! Tons of great bands, don't blow it.

UPDATE: still have one more left, so enter now! Thanks to everyone who entered! All discs are now spoken for.

MP3: Nitad - Rädslan

I'm a bit disappointed that Nitad didn't make it out west on their current US tour, but what can you do? Hopefully things went well enough for them that they'll make it back for another go and will play the one coast that actually matters. The rest of you out East better get yourselves in gear though 'cuz they've only got a few more dates left before they head back home to Sweden. And while you're at it, pick up me a t-shirt! Size M, please (seriously!). You will reimbursed in full. But let's get back to the music, shall we? Nitad are one my favorite current hardcore acts, besides maybe Fucked Up, a band who they get unfairly compared to all too often. I say: Whatever! Both are great, though punkrock purists and internet soapboxers love to complain. As it was, it always shall be. Anyhow, Nitad has just the right edge of anger and melody, backed with a relentlessly driving energy level that can't be denied. "Rädslan" kicks off their debut full-length "Ibland kan man inte hindran sig själv" with a fierce four-on-the-floor beat, played at what I guess would be the band's midtempo velocity. So yeah, pretty raging one might say. You dig? I have CDs to give away -- all you gotta do is email nitad-contest@itsatrap.com with your details and I'll have Kranium Records send out discs to the first 10 respondents. Do it!

Nitad to play No Way Fest in RVA

Nitad will be coming to the US to play the No Way Fest in Richmond, Virginia on June 20 along with a bunch of other great punk acts such as Zero Boys, Government Warning and Social Circkle (to name a few). I presume there will be other dates, but I haven't seen anything yet. Details: http://www.nowayrecords.com/site/?page_id=197

Fuck your scene, kid volume 1

Kranium Records (Nitad) is putting out a split 7" featuring Swedish crusties Makabert Fynd (ex-Doberman Cult) and Stockholm oldsters Nice Idiot under the banner "Fuck your scene, kid volume 1". No release date as far as I know, but there will only be 250 copies so keep your eyes peeled and be on the lookout for further volumes in the series.

MP3: Disco Volante - It's your funeral

This is the band that won the Manifest award for best punk/hardcore act? Really? Over Disfear, Nitad and Meanwhile? I think they're a decent band, but c'mon -- those Disfear and Nitad records are serious ragers, the latter especially. Meanwhile is a bit too by-the-books dis-core for my tastes, but that's beside the point. Disco Volante should've been way outmatched. Listen to the first minute of "It's your funeral" and tell me that doesn't sound like The Hellacopters. Another great band to be sure, but come on! Even though they pick it up for the rest of the track, it's lacking the roughness I expect from punk. I don't know; usually the Manifest is fairly right-on in their picks, but I think they might have blown it with this one.
