Check out a short trailer for the new Mixtapes & Cellmates single "Soon", due out September 28 via Nomethod: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVJs66jIMyI
Nomethod has posted a teaser for the upcoming Mixtapes & Cellmates album: http://www.nomethod.se/roxteaser/
"Rox" will be released on October 28.
Nomethod fall release schedule:
09/07 - Aerial - All refrain mp3 single
09/18 - Mixtapes & Cellmates - Soon mp3 single
09/23 - Anoraak (FRA) - Nightdrive with you CDEP
10/07 - Aerial - Put it this way in headlines CD/DVD
10/28 - Mixtapes & Cellmates - Rox CD/LP/DVD/CS
Nomethod reports that Mixtapes & Cellmates' new album will be called "Rox" and will be released in all formats: CD/LP/DVD/MP3. Expect a late September release with a single/video to precede it. In other news, the label has confirmed that "All refrain" will be the first single off Aerial's forthcoming album "Put it this way in headlines". Expect both the single and album in early September.
Denmark has established itself as a sanctuary for offbeat pop musicians. I was easily won over by Slaraffenland's "Private cinema" and Larsen & Furious Jane's "Zen sucker", to name just a few, and it is within this eccentric, peripheral vein of pop music that Alcoholic Faith Mission exist. On "Gently", which begins (and continues on as) a lavish, beautifully layered composition, a female vocalist delicately sings: "Just 'cause I'm a whore, you know it doesn't mean I don't feel it when you fuck me." This strange juxtaposition of the beautiful and the base continues on in the next track, "Nut in your eye", a track that by name alone should be on a throwaway hip-hop album, but in substance falls not too far from the realm of Broken Social Scene. "421 Wythe Avenue", while moving away from the resplendent/sexual parallelisms, continues on musically in much the same way as the opening tracks -- ethereally layered electronic elements and vocals, solid acoustic and electric guitar work, all tethered to shifting centers and uncertain musical landscapes. There is a tragic beauty here, one that blends the emotional registers of Mixtapes & Cellmates and Moonbabies, yet remains quite distinctively an original construct, and it is this ingenuity that sets Alcoholic Faith Mission apart from many of their contemporaries.

Since Nomethod is doing cheap reissues of both Mixtapes & Cellmates discs and the Robert Svensson album since signing with Border Music, they're giving away a bunch of free mp3s including a brand previously unreleased new one from Robert: http://www.nomethod.se/
The final single from Robert Svensson's album "Young punks are on the never-never" will be the opener "Broadway". Look for it in April. After that, expect him to reappear shortly thereafter with a new record from Mixtapes & Cellmates - I do believe it's currently being mixed.

Robert Svensson's first solo single was "1987", a track which featured guest vocals from Adam Olenius of Shout Out Louds. That was supposed to be a big selling point I guess, yet it ended up being one of the weakest tracks on his album. Nine months later, here we are with his latest single "1991" which actually happens to be my favorite track on the album. 4 years made the difference? Anyhow, the template for the sound isn't that different - we still get the same indierock with skittering beats and clever percussion, soft synths and a big, big chorus. "1991" also eschews more typical "rock" instrumentation, relying (almost?) solely on electronics. That helps separate the piece from Robert's work with his band Mixtapes & Cellmates and it also provides a wider palette for him to dip his proverbial paint brush. Yes, it's a bit colder, but that too is fitting for the season as far as I'm concerned. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a fresh blanket of snow outside to go play in.
