General Surgery resign with Relapse

Lambgoat reports that classic Swedish goregrind/death metal act General Surgery has resigned with : http://lambgoat.com/news/17602/Relapse-Records-re-signs-General-Surgery
Look for the compilation "A collection of depravation" to be released on March 27 with a new 7" EP and album to follow later this year.

Pulverised signs Crucifyre

Singapore's continues their acquisition of Sweden's death metal elite by picking up Crucifyre as the latest addition to their roster. The band has existed since 2006 and features an all-star cast including Erik Tormentor Sahlström (General Surgery, Maze Of Torment), TG (The Sun, Morbid), Urban Skytt (Regurgitate, Nasum), Henrik Doltz Nilsson (Dobermann Cult) and Yasin Hillborg (Afflicted). Look for their debut full-length to be released later this year.

Iron Lamb to record split with Deadmask

Iron Lamb, the new Swedish all-star "filthrock" act featuring members from Dismember, General Surgery, Repugnant, Tyrant and more, will be releasing a split 12" with Spanish doom act Deadmask via Psychedoomelic Records. No date set yet, but considering that the band aims to record in October/November, I'd say to expect an early 2010 release.

Presenting: Iron Lamb

The brand new Swedish "filthrock" act Iron Lamb (feat. members from Dismember, General Surgery, Repugnant, Tyrant, more) will be releasing their debut 7" via Greek label Nuclear Winter Records this coming fall. The band is also working on their live debut which will happen on August 22 at Hornstull Strand as part of Stockholm-based tattoo parlor Swahili Bob's 4-year anniversary party with Poison Idea (thee Kings of Punk!) and Henry Fiat's Open Sore, who will apparently be debuting "a new style," whatever that means (speculation is not positive from what I've seen). MP3: General Surgery - Slithering maceration of ulcerous facial tissue

"We're General Surgery! We play Death Metal!" Indeed they do, and they do it well. Last night's show here in Olympia was fantastic, bonus that recent Fenriz band-of-the-week pick Midnight played support along with local faves Funerot (who keep sounding better and better each time I see them). I actually don't think I've ever spent much time listening to General Surgery on record -- their discography is awfully meager considering how long they've been around -- but I may have to correct that now. Gore-obsessed grind can easily get tedious, but those dudes throw in enough grooves and classic Swedish death melodies to rise above the rabble. Performed live on stage in bloodied hospital whites just makes it that much more powerful. I'm still smiling thinking about it now.

Regurgitate will be going into the studio this summer to do some preproduction for their next record and also to record a song for an upcoming Napalm Death tribute. Don't forget that the band will be heading over to the US to play the Maryland Deathfest alongside fellow Swedes General Surgery and Birdflesh, among many other fine grind acts. The band just finished tracking four tracks of preproduction demos at Offbeat Studios in preparation for recording their upcoming full-length.

Classic gore-grind band General Surgery has signed with Listenable Records. The band will enter Soundlab studios later this year to record their first-ever full-length album from a spring 2005 release.

After five years together, bassist Joakim Harju has left Construcdead. He just got married and is expecting to become a father, so it's no surprise he wants to change his lifestyle. But what is surprising is that he's also going back to reform his old band Face Down. As mentioned before, ex-Haunted vocalist Marco Aro reported the news that he was calling off his musical retirement to restart the project and it looks like members Joakim Harju, Joacim Carlsson (General Surgery) and Erik Thyselius (also in Construcdead, but not quitting) will be joining him. Harju says "This project will give me more time with my family and hopefully more creative satisfaction for me. I like to thank the band for a wonderful time and for all the good memories I've got, and to our fans, I hope that you will enjoy Face Down almost as much."

Renown cult Swedish grindcore band General Surgery has lined up some European tourdates:

05/14 - Rote Flora, Hamburg (GER)
05/15 - Goudvishal, Arnhem (NL)
05/16 - Pazzop, Bladel (NL)
05/17 - AZ, Mullheim (GER)
05/19 - Archiv, Potsdam (GER)

Bassist Andreas Eriksson has left long-running Swedish grind act General Surgery. Glenn Sykes of Regurgitate will be filling in until a suitable permanent replacement can be found. The band currently plans to play their first live show in 14 years at Club Nocturnal in Göteborg, Sweden on February 14 and is also planning on doing a short headlining tour in April as well as maybe some summer festival dates.
