The new album with the impossibly long title "Come and join, close your eyes become blind, we're on our way to Eskju Divine" is out this week on Imperial Recordings. I'm still digesting it, but I like what I hear so far.

Eskju Divine's debut full-length "Come join close your eyes become blind we're on our way to Eskju Divine" has been confirmed for a September 21 release via Imperial Recordings. I've really enjoyed both EPs from this piano-based trio and am looking forward to hearing what they do with a full album.

Their most recent EP "Struck by the halo" is quite nice, so I'd definitely recommend checking them out if you haven't already done so.

Eskju Divine's debut full-length is now scheduled for a September release. The band's most recent EP "Struck by the halo" is excellent, so I look forward to hearing what they can do with a full album.

They probably hate, and I mean hate, the Ben Fold's Five comparisons, with good reasons because they sound nothing like that trio. But how often do you come across a pop trio that has a bass player, a drummer and a pianist? However, in the span of this EP, what Eskju Divine do is win me over which doesn't make much sense since I don't enjoy the band they resembles most (to my ears anyway): Coldplay. They have the same epic and melodic sensibilities, with the difference that Eskju Divine generally rock more. And their singer isn't whining.

New tune today from Eskju Divine, the title track from their latest EP "Struck by the halo". They've got quite a lush, dreamy sound for being a mere bass, drums and keyboard trio. Some of that has to do with their decision to bathe every sound in reverb, giving the melodies a soft, floating quality. This song starts off strong with a militaristic drumbeat reminiscent of classic U2 before flying off towards the skies with lilting, falsetto vocals. Definitely a step up from their already-excellent debut EP - can't wait to hear what they do with a full album.
