Swedish crustcore act Disfear will have their latest album "Misanthropic Generation" released on vinyl through Feral Ward Records, the label of Yannick from Portland, OR based band Tragedy. The new edition will feature a cover of the song "Hycklarfolket" from classic Swedish crust band No Security. Disfear also just put out a new 7" for the track "Powerload" through Spain's Throne Records. That release contains exclusive b-sides of "The Age of Conflict" as well as them covering "Med En Halsning Fran Helvete" from yet another classic Swedish crust band, Bombanfall.
As mentioned before, Disfear was recently joined by Entombed guitarist Uffe Cederlund on second guitar. He'll be doing double duty with both bands on the 'Close-Up Made Us Do It' tour which kicks off today in Sundsvall, Sweden.
Due to some computer troubles on the road, Entombed was unable to update their tour diary until just the other day. Head over to their website for the latest.
Happy turkey-day to all you Americans! Here's just a short update on a few things today:
Dead Frog Records has signed the band Waver. You might've heard em before, as their song "The Things You Told Me" was featured in the 2002 movie "Den Osynlige" (The Invisible). Bandmember Andreas Alfredsson also composed the score. The duo, which is made up of songwriter/musician/producer Alfredsson and singer/songwriter Josefina Andersson, is said to utilize "sweeping melodies and delicate guitar lines" that sound like "the soundtrack to Swedish winters." But don't take the official bio's word for it, download some songs yourself right here: http://www.deadfrogrecords.com/artists/waver/
The group has been busy recording throughout the past year at numerous studios around Sweden, including Umeå's famous Tonteknik Recordings and plan to release their debut album for DFR in April, 2004.
Entombed guitarist Uffe Cederlund has joined Disfear on second guitar. That means he'll be doing double duty with both bands during the Close-Up Made Us Do It tour which kicks off on December 3 and also features Raised Fist. As mentioned before, Disfear is another in the long line of dis-core bands (see Discharge) and features ex-At the Gates vocalist Tomas Lindberg.
Swedish death metal legends Entombed have added a second Seattle show to their current US tour itinerary at Studio 7 on October 26. Single Bullet Theory and Nocturne will open, as well as local acts The Braindead, In Memorium, and NME Vs. the World. As a reminder, tonight's show in San Francisco will not feature tourmates King Diamond, but will still go on as planned at the DNA Lounge with a cheaper door price. If only I didn't have to get up so early tomorrow...
Entombed has updated their tour diary with some funny tales from their current outing with Nine and Disfear.
There's a new old-school styled Swedish death metal band on the block that features a lineup of scene veterans. They don't have a name yet, but their ranks include Lord K from The Project Hate on guitar, Jörgen Sandström from Grave, Entombed, TPH on vocals, Tomas Elofsson from Sanctification on bass and Tobias Gustafsson from Vomitory on drums. "It'll be so downtuned you will weep, it's be so excellent you'll give up any musical careers you might have, and you will completely bow down before another form of domination," says Lord K. The group already has three songs written and is planning on entering the studio (hopefully Soundlab they say) soon to record their debut album.

Entombed has finally updated their website with the winner of their design-a-beer-label contest from way back in December. 'Bout time, eh? You can check out the winning design here. And they've also announced a new contest: design a splash page for the band's site. Here's the full details (scroll down). And they've also added a neat alarm clock doohickey that you can download. The alarm function plays various tunes from the latest album "Inferno" and also has a bunch of pics to choose from for a background along with website links and more.
