New mp3 today from David Fridlund. As a lot of you probably already know, David is the frontman for Swedish indierockers David & the Citizens and this track "April & May" is the first single from his debut solo album "Amaterasu", due out December 22 via Adrian Recordings. The style obviously isn't too tremendously different from his previous work, but it's definitely more stripped down and personal. Check it out.

The first single has been confirmed as the song "April & May" and should be out soon.

David Fridlund of David & the Citizens will release his debut solo album sometime in December. Adrian Recordings is being ridiculously tight-lipped about it, but they do say that it will contain 14 songs and there's already been a video shot for the first, as-yet-unnamed single. More soon?

D&tC are one of the many fine bands appearing on the upcoming "Reader's companion" comp and they've been getting quite a bit of great press from around the world recently. This tour will most likely be the band's last hurrah before taking a break as frontman David Fridlund begins concentrating on his solo career. Or maybe not - there's a split 7" with Elias One Man Band coming out on Let's Expect Art featuring the newish song "Let me put it this way" coming out soon. As for David's debut solo album, there's nothing definite yet, but it is supposed to be ready for release sometime before the end of the year.

Quit Your Dayjob have recorded a cover of "Broken face" by The Pixies for an upcoming tribute album coming out in October from Düsseldorf Recordings. Other bands contributing are Hell on Wheels ("The Holiday Song"), Hamell on Trial, Nathan Larson (ex-Shudder to Think), David Fridlund (David & the Citizens) with Sara Culler, Doktor Kosmos and more.

It's finally been confirmed: David Fridlund of David & the Citizens will be putting out his first solo album this coming fall through Adrian Recordings. Keep a lookout for upcoming live dates where you'll be able to preview the new material.

David Fridlund's (David & the Citizens) appearance at the City Sound Festival has been exanded to a three night resendency at City Centre in Göteborg where he will perform solo with a piano and be joined by various guests such as Sara Culler.

David Fridlund of David & the Citizens has booked his first honest-to-goodness solo date at the City Sound Festival. I hear rumors about a solo album, but there's nothing official being said yet. Other new acts added to the City Sound bill: Kingston Airforce, Granada , Sandy Mouche , Soak The Sin , Span, Speech Defect , Peggy Lejonhjärta , The 21st Century Noise , Tobias Fröberg , Bukk , Bombshell Rocks and Troublemakers.

David & the Citizens - "Until the Sadness is Gone" (Adrian Recordings)
This is sort of album that works better for me when I have it on shuffle with a bunch of other stuff. I enjoy it much more when I hear it one song at a time, but taken as a whole it kinda bores me. It's not bad, but it feels like something's missing. I think the problem lies in that the backing band is unable to match frontman/songwriter David Fridlund's enthusiasm in the studio. His performance, especially in his vocals, has tons of energy and charm but no one else seems to be feeling it. The playing is solid, but nothing more. Tis a shame, because I feel like this could've been a lot better if they let loose a bit more. On another positive note, there's some really nice arrangements with horns and other instruments.
