Mundane Sounds reviews Cut City: http://www.mundanesounds.com/record_review.php?id=1344

New mp3 today from Göteborg post-punk trio Cut City. The song comes from the group's upcoming 7" on the US label GSL, but is already an indie dancefloor hit in Sweden because it's just so undeniably good. That's the computer age for ya. The most immediate point of reference for you youngsters will be Interpol, but Cut City's sound comes more directly from the classic post-punk sounds of Gang of Four, Wire and Factory Records. It's gritty, dark and anxious - the way it should be, unlike all the polished, boring stuff you're likely to hear on the radio these days such as The Killers or The Bravery. There's actually a few other Swedish bands like The Je Ne Sais Quoi and 1999 who do justice to the genre and maybe we'll revisit them at another time. Tonight: I'm going to see SF's leading post-post revivalists Giant Haystacks who are playing at Gilman alongside Denmark's Gorilla Angreb (ex-Amdi Petersens Arme). Should be a good time I hope.

Cut City will be releasing a three-song 7"/CDEP on US label GSL sometime next year.

Cut City is currently in the studio recording some new tracks with Kristian Anttila engineering.

Cut City will be entering Hitparade studio later this month to record a 4-song CD EP for Greece's Librarian Records. The band is also name-dropped in the current issue of Wire Magazine and will be putting out a 3-song 7" out on Planaria Records in a couple of months.
