Big news for American fans of Swedish indie rock today from Parasol: in-house label Hidden Agenda has confirmed that they have signed The Wannadies and will release their latest record "Before and After" on October 21 in the US. But that's not all! In conjunction with Sweden's A West Side Fabrication, Parasol's Jim Kelly will begin his 'four month sermon on the second coming' aka the American import of The Bear Quartet. First up will be "Moby Dick" and its related EPs in August, followed by the "Early Years" compilation. Then "Personality Crisis", "My War" and EPs in September. October will be "Gay Icon", "Ny Vag" and EPs with the forthcoming "Angry Brigade" crossing the seas in November. After that, who knows?
Also via Parasol by way of Pitchforkmedia.com's mp3 page, comes this download of the song "Cold Hearts" from Club 8 and their fifth album "Strangely Beautiful".
Spin magazine has voted Howlin' Pelle of the The Hives as number 14 of the 50 coolest people in the world.

I guess it was bound to happen eventually: there's a tribute album to At the Gates in the works. While I highly doubt it will be anywhere near as good as the "Slaytanic Slaughter" Slayer tribute (one of the best metal tributes ever IMO), I know I'll probably check it out no matter what. Anyhow, Godhate (formerly Throneaeon) are set to enter Studio Underground to record their version of the track "Kingdom Gone". Some samples of the band's other work: "Oblivion" / "In Loathing (For Your God)" / "Divine Soul"
After reading this review (from Musique Machine) I must admit I was intrigued. And after seeking out some tunes I was won over: Kaizers Orchestra is pretty darn cool methinks. Besides the oft-mentioned Tom Waits influence, I also am reminded quite a bit of Bob Hund. Download a track from the band on the right and listen for yourself.
The guys from Dungen have been keeping busy with various side projects: Gustav is working on Paoline's upcoming album and Fredrik Björling and Reine Fiske are playing in The Guild, along with Sylvester Schlegel from The Ark. No word on release dates for anything yet, but I'll keep you posted.
Due to an injury in the band, The Caesars have forced to cancel their shows for August 14-16 at the Frequency Festival in Salzburg, Atomic Cafe in Munich and the Highfields Festival in Erfurt. They do expect to make it for the Stockholm show on August 29 and Terremoto on the 31st though. Also from the band comes this link to some live video stuff they did for London's XFM radio back in April.
Alarma Man has put up the video for "Suburbia" on their website. Check it out.

Stefan Sundström, Disco Volante, Dozer, The Hymans, Jukka Pekkonen, Nitery, Dolly's Dead, Nasty Kixx, Mutilated and The Virtues have all been added to Festival Mission Impossible, August 23 in Smedjebacken, Sweden. More info: www.festivalmi.com
Moneybrother, Her Majesty and Miss Universum have cancelled their appearances scheduled for Hovstock on August 30 (something Kalas related no doubt) and José González and Parker have been added to the bill.
NRK just put up an interview and profile on Motorpsycho and side-project The International Tussler Society. (in Norweigan)
Candlelight Records will be reissuing Opeth's now-classic 1997 album "My Arms Your Hearse" in the US on October 14 with two new bonus tracks, including a cover of Celtic Frost's "Circle of the Tyrants". Earlier this year Candlelight also re-released Opeth's first two albums "Orchid" and "Morningrise" which were originally licensed by Century Media in the US.
Expressen has confirmed that Swedish pop singer Robyn wrote a song for Britney Spears' upcoming album.
Aeternus frontman Ares recently posted a note on his band's message board concerning upcoming tour plans. He says they are intending to play Sandnes/Norway sometime in August or September, but has nothing concrete yet. The band will also probably be playing the Underworld in London in December, but again, there's no date confirmed yet. He says their label Nocturnal Art Productions has been in contact with Metalysee concerning a 14-day tour for November and there also may be dates set up for elsewhere in the UK. So yeah, nothing but a bunch of talk right now, but I'll keep you informed when the status changes.
