Meshuggah will be releasing a new EP on Fractured Transmitter Records, the label of Mushroomhead frontman Jason Mann. The disc will contain one 20-minute song and claims that it will ""bring the world of extreme music to its knees." Um, yeah. This isn't the first time that people from Meshuggah have messed around with extended song lengths - some of you might remember guitarist Fredrik Thordendal's solo album "Sol Niger Within" which was one long piece broken into 28 sections.
Stratovarius has pushed back the release of their forthcoming DVD to April 2004 from the previously announced date of January. No specific reason was given for the change. The band's new album "Elements Pt. 2" comes out October 27 on Nuclear Blast.
Hultsfred.tv will be broadcasting a live show from Logh at 22:00 CET. Just click on the Logh picture to connect and make sure you have awful, intrusive Windows Media 9 installed.
Mando Diao is playing the CMJ fest in NYC on October 22 at The Coral. Maybe more dates to follow? Mute is certainly pushing the album in the US - I just saw it yesterday at a Virgin Megastore listening station with a 'special emerging artist' price of $10. Who knows?
Head over to José González's website to preorder a signed copy of his debut full-length "Veneer".

Via Voidfaith Netzine comes word that Blackstrap's new album "Ghost Children" comes out October 15 from Sally Forth Records. Look for a video for the first single "In Colored Ways" out soon. The band also plans to do some shows in the Netherlands coming up in October/November, but nothing's been confirmed quite yet.
Head over to the Vendlus Records site to download an mp3 for the track "Dead Shining Star" from Norweigan industrial/metal act V28. There's also a mp3 mix track containing various song snippets from the debut album "NonAnthropogenic", due out later this month.
Better late than never, last week's Parasol staff pick of the week was "Forever Overhead" from The Crystal Committee, as chosen by my pal Jim. Head on over to read his take on the album, listen to streams of a couple tunes and maybe even order it.
