Coming soon via , a discography collection from late 80s Uppsala thrashers Damien compiling the band's five demo tapes and one 12" EP into one 2xLP set along with a 28-page booklet. 500 copies, 100 on splattered vinyl.
has picked up black/death act Terrorama, the so-called "angriest band in Sweden", and will be releasing their as-yet-untitled third album this coming August.
has announced that their reissue of famed death-metal act Sarcasm's discography on triple-vinyl + 7" is on track for release on July 15 and is now available for preorder: http://www.myspace.com/tothedeath666/blog/543299215
The collection includes all 6 demos the band recorded plus their never-released 1994 LP "Never after", a bonus 7" of rehearsal tracks and a 16-page booklet documenting the band's history before they broke up and members went on to form Skitsystem. Only 100 copies, so get on it quick (but save one for me?).
Even though it's barely relevant to It's a Trap!, I'm stoked to learn that Swedish label will be reissuing Doomstone's 1994 cult classic "For those whom Satan hath joined" on vinyl for the very first time this coming fall. For the unindoctrinated, Doomstone was a project featuring members of Deceased playing what I guess you could call old-school Satanic Heavy Metal. They also boasted one of the best band member aliases of all-time, Cross Turner Upside-Downer.
has confirmed that the new Sorcery retrospective 3xLP set "Unholy creations" will be released on April 21 and will include all of the band's demos up through 1993, including the never-released "Maculated life" demo, the song "Pandemonium" from the first version of the "Ancient creation" demo, the track "Inhabitants" from off the 1997 VOD compilation and also a rehearsal recording from their early short period as Sorcery's Malediction. Also included in the set will be a 24pg booklet with a full band bio, lyrics and other memoralibilia and the first 100 copies will come in a limited black wooden box with an etched logo and the 2010 demo "Master of the chains" on cassette plus a t-shirt, poster and patch. Not sure when it'll be available for order, but hopefully I'll find out before you do.
has announced the signing of Swedish act Mordant who they lovingly describe as "Sarcofago sodomizing the corpse of Dissection at the sound of the demon bell." Expect an album release this fall.
Konrad from the excellent label has started two new offshoot projects that he runs on his own. First is , a label devoted to releasing "hardrocking bands with their roots in the 70's as well as the early 80's" who have so far only signed French act Soul Manifest whose self-titled debut album will be released later this month. Unfortunately they're not a band I'll be covering, but the samples on myspace sound pretty darn good. Secondly, and far more topical for IAT!, is Konrad's other project which will be specializing in one of my favorite subjects: reissuing crucial early Swedish death metal on vinyl. They've already put out two LPs, both vinyl editions of demos from the acts Obscurity and Mega Slaughter, and coming up next will be a 3xLP boxset from Sorcery and Sarcasm with LPs from Inverted and Curse to follow. More info and samples at myspace: http://www.myspace.com/tothedeath666
Resurrected cult label has compiled a 12" from Swedish act Obscurity featuring the band's two demos from 1985/86, "Damnations pride" and "Ovations to death". 400 copies, official release on May 24, to be distributed via .
