AA/Nosordo is dead
Swedish/Spanish label brethren are closing up shop for good and selling their last remaining items for cheap: http://www.nosordo.com/
Quite a few certifiably great discs in there, such as The Idealist and Ljudbilden & Piloten.

The Skull Defekts seem to have one goal in mind: pound you into submission in one never ending blow. Honestly, this is amazingly efficient in doing so. In a sort of drone that is very minimalist but at the same time uses mostly analog instruments and very little electronics, they sound like a softer, more contemplative Sunn 0))) and a more active Pulse Emitter, but just as disturbing. Very interesting stuff, but not exactly the type of thing you want to be listening at work, believe me.

A collaboration with Spanish magazine Rojo and Swedish label Nosordo, this compilation goes through some compelling sounds and songs from different genres (pop, folk, electro, noise etc) but each a foot solidly planted in experimentation. Swedes Conduo Orchestra, Tsukimono, Henrik Rylander, The Idealist and possibly more each give fitting and diverse performances. Definitely an interesting listen.

This one, also from Nosordo, goes into a more noisy direction of different genres. Although there is some melody to be found here and there, this is way more about texture and moods than anything else. Definitely a well designed playlist and a most interesting compilation. In many ways this compilation gives a great overview of what the indie scene has become in recent years, and how many great artists you barely know are out there.

This trio of Swedes play this really cool brand of instrumental rock that is a bit on the jazzy/funky side. Reminds me of the Euroboys' stuff from "Jet age" and is rooted in a nice '70s groove. This eight-track EP is almost hypnotic at times. Good listening for when you want to chill out in the afternoon with a drink in your hand.

The beauty of this record made me rewrite this review three times because I couldn't quite capture what I felt. This record is what I would like people play as funeral march once I pass away. As creepy as that sounds, it really isn't. The music is full of mourning but yet you remember all the beautiful times you had. This folk, with somewhat military percussion, banjo, acoustic guitars and melodica, is superbly written and played. Despite the simplicity of the music, and the lack of vocals, the songs flow with an incredible ease. This review still sucks but I guess that's the best I can do.
