Memento Materia is putting out a new compilation in November called "Electropop Heroes of the North Vol 1" which will include a broad selection of Scandinavian electronic artists such as The Knife (new single "Handy-Man"), Bobby, Daybehavior, Apoptygma Berzerk, Colony 5, Statemachine, Alice In Videoland, and Pride and Fall. Lars Demian will be putting out a best-of compilation record called "Ännu mera jag- Lars Demians bästa" on September 17.
Not to brag or anything (okay, well maybe just a little), but what's up with Musikjournalen reporting on the new soundtrack and single from The Knife today? I posted that stuff way back on 07/07. I guess it's better late than never for them, eh? And then there's the Mustasch news they posted today that I covered back on 07/28. Now if only I could figure out how to make money doing this...
Added a new mp3 today that I think a lot of people are curious to hear - José González covering "Heartbeats", a song originally by The Knife. The track appears on the "Jeans + Summer" comp on Groover and the "Svensk populärmusik volym två" comp from Johnny Bråttom. And in a nice coincidence, the first comp of the two is the featured album reviewed today at Dagensskiva.
The Knife will be filming a video for the song "Pass this On" later this month under the tutelage of Johan Renck. They say Karin won't be singing in it, but won't reveal who will. Gotta wait until September when it's released, I guess. In other news, the band will be releasing "the lovely body-techno single" "Handy-Man" on a 12" sometime in October along with "a lot of nice remixes" on the flipside. The track comes from the soundtrack of the Christina Olofsson-directed film "Hannah med H" which comes out on November 28.
