There's a special show at Skeppsbro Källaren in Sundsvall this Friday. The owner has been going through some touch financial times, so a group of eight bands will be joining forces to help raise some money. The lineup: Lars Bygdén ($1000 Playboys, Bukks), The Charm, Small Town Pimps, Marble, Post Play, The Dice and The Confusions.

The Confusions report that they spent most of December up at Sidelake Studio A with producer Patrik Frisk (older brother of "Trampoline" producer Pontus) working on basic tracks for their new record. They've now moved into Patrik's own Sidelake Studio E to work on overdubs and they expect to complete some 17 tracks total, some of which will end up as b-sides.
Check out the new Johan Lehman-directed video for the song "Painted People" from The Confusions right here. In other news, the band will be releasing "The Pilot" as a new single in France at the end of the month on Marc Music, a division of Warner Music France.

The Confusions got a nice write-up recently in the UK's Evening Telegraph reviewing their album "Trampoline". "Add these guys to the list of superb Swedish bands," they say along with their four out of five score. Not bad, eh? In other news, the band has been filming a video for the next single "Painted People" with director Johan Lehman. An airport runway, a deserted supermarket and a ghost town are among the scenery they say to expect when it's released sometime in August.
"Trampoline", the latest album from Sweden's The Confusions, has been released in Japan by 1977 Records imprint Egging. Go here for samples and more info.

Monotone Records reports that Daniel Loefgren is just about to sign with Tenor Records and he's already started recording his debut album for the label "In Where Cold Hands Might Separate Us". Daniel will still continue to release records with Monotone, too. Another Monotone band moving on is In Memory of Me who will be working with Lawnchair Records on their next release, a split CD with Common Effect from the US.
Cdoass should probably considering renewing their domain name before some unscrupulous person steals it.

DigitalMetal.com has posted an interview with Swedish death metal band Grave. In it they reveal that they have plans to work on a new record later this year or early 2004 and will be touring Europe this coming October.
Union Carbide Productions have now been confirmed for Norway's Øya Festival on August 7-9. Those of you who missed the Hultsfred reunion will now get another chance. Magnet, White Birch, and Mormones have been added to the Øyakickstart show at Rockefeller/John Dee. Logh reports that are taking a bit of a break this summer as they've just finished a large batch of touring. "[We] are tired and need some rest, since it has been kind of a hectic year," they say, but they will still be doing a couple festival gigs in the near future. Check their page for the latest. For the fall, they've already got a Scandinavian tour lined up in September and a European jaunt tentative for October/November. And that's not even the last of it - they also have the vinyl release of "The Raging Sun" set for September along with two new 7" releases set to drop before the end of the year. That doesn't sound like taking it easy to me!

Norweigan pop-singer Lene Marlin's forthcoming album has been delayed indefinitely due to an ongoing contractual dispute with her manager. Read more. The new record was produced by Glen Ballard (Alanis Morisette) and is the follow-up to 1999's hugely successful "Playing My Game".

Nicolai Dunger will play at Torgrocken in Sundsvall, Sweden on July 17.
Aftonbladet reports that Kent will be heading over to Japan from October 8-19.
The rumors have been flying for a long time (I first saw word last October), but we can now finally confirm that The (International) Noise Conspiracy is indeed working with producer extraordinaire Rick Rubin on their next album. "We are writing songs, then it will be intriguing to see what [he] can do with them," says vocalist Dennis Lyxzen. They'll be heading to LA in August to work on it.
Ex-Aqua singer Lene Nystrøm will be releasing her first solo single "It's Your Duty" in September, with the full-length album "Surprise" to follow in September or October.

Turbonegro stormed the Troubadour like Vikings on a siege, selling out two shows in under an hour and proving to one and all that all the hype is for good reason -- these guys really are the best band on the planet right now.

Enslaved has announced they will doing two exclusive live shows in April, one in London on the 24th at The Garage with Thus Defiled and one in Oslo at the Rock In on the 25th. In other news, the band has finally confirmed a May 12 release date for the upcoming album "Below the Lights".
Randy will be appearing on P3 Rock tomorrow, April 17 at 10:10pm.
The Sounds have a feature in the May issue of Paper Magazine talking about their experiences in New York hanging out with Melissa Auf Der Maur from Hole and Smashing Pumpkins.

Labrador Records is releasing two limited edition 7" singles on May 5. First up is Douglas Heart, who the label describes as 'dreamcore' or akin to Sigur Rós, Mazzy Star and Stina Nordenstam. Next is The Legends who are said to play "joyful and catchy C-86-motown-punk-pop."

Expressen is reporting that Jocke Berg (Kent) is working with singer/songwriter Lisa Miskovsky on songwriting for her next album. At least that's what Ola Håkansson of Stockholm Records has told them. We shall see. This would be the follow-up to Lisa's successful self-titled debut album from 2001.
