The Cardigans maybe have cancelled their scheduled US tourdates in September, but they'll still be making it over to Brazil. Dates and details soon.
The Cardigans will finally be back in the US this September for some live dates - I see a confirmed show at the Paradise in Boston on September 15 and the First Unitarian Church in Philly announced for September 16. Their most recent album "Super extra gravity" finally gets a US release on September 19.
MP3: Nathan Larson and Nina Persson - Itämaista rakkautta
I have yet to see "Om gud vill" ("God willing"), the big-screen acting debut of The Cardigans' Nina Persson, but I have been fortunate enough to have heard the soundtrack. A lot of people seemed quite excited to hear her take on "Dead leaves and dirty ground" by the White Stripes, but if you ask me, the highlight is Nina singing the Finnish tango classic "Itämaista rakkautta" ("Oriental love"). It's pretty amazing to hear how much Nina has progressed over the years - those first few Cardigans records are near and dear to my heart, but they are so far removed from what the band is capable of nowadays. Singing a White Stripes cover is slumming, plain and simple.

TA5 are the first new band signed to the recently relaunched Trampoline Records run by bassist Magnus Svenningsson of The Cardigans.
The soundtrack for the movie "Om Gud Vill", y'know - the movie in which Nina Persson of The Cardigans makes her big screen debut, will be released on April 26. Nina's cover the The White Stripes' "Dead leaves and the dirty ground" is on it, along with four other tunes.
Nina Persson's (The Cardigans) cover version of the White Stripes tune "Dead leaves and the dirty ground", as heard in her film debut on the soundtrack to "Om Gud Vill", will be including on the CD that comes with Groove Magazine in their next issue.
