Timo Räisänen
Pussycat CDS
Razzia Records

Sweden's Timo Räisänen is famous in his mother country for being in Håkan Hellström's backing band and being a member of Her Majesty. This is the third single from his first solo album that was released earlier this year, and even though the actual album is a bit of a hit and miss affair, this is a fine, fine song. It's classic happy-go-lucky Swedish indie rock, and I find it hard to think that anyone could not like this song the first time they hear it. It's a bit like Shout Out Louds but less quirky and more melodic. The b-side is surprisingly bad though.

Shout Out Louds
Live @ Soho Arts Theatre Club, London, 05/19/05

I had a great time at this show. The venue was very nice, small, and intimate, the drinks weren't too expensive, and at least one of the bands that played was very good. I saw Shout Out Louds play support for the magnificent The Magic Numbers the week before this show, but I didn't really enjoy them too much that time. This time though, their quirky indie rock was perfectly suited, and to describe the whole experience in one word I had to say it was very cozy. By the way, the "main band" this night was VHS or BETA (they were rubbish).

The Shout Out Louds debut full-length album "Howl howl gaff gaff" will finally get a US release on May 24 via Capitol Records. Japan gets it in July, the rest of the world in September. How much longer until those guys are gonna be able to write and perform new material again? Anyhow, as mentioned before, the next single is for the lead track "The comeback" which happens to be my favorite song on the record. A video will be on the way soon.

Howl howl gaff gaff

This to me is the perfect record for my two hour commute to and from work. It grabs me by that part of my body covered by 2 layers of underwear (London is cold!) and wakes me up. The way Adam almost cries out his lyrics screams teenage angst and that mixed with Carl's inspiring guitar plays makes this a fun record to listen to. The lyrics are simple and catchy, albeit feeble, however the catchy tunes make up for it.
