Racing Junior and The Norwegian Council for Mental Health have created a new memorial trust in the name of singer/songwriter Saint Thomas to raise money for improved mental health care and support for young people and to help produce more public dialog on the subject. A box set and memorial concert is being put together for October to help raise funds for the cause.

Norwegian act Rumble in Rhodos will be going into Athletic Sound Studio in Halden to begein recording a new album with producer Kai Andersen (Madrugada, Ricochets, Saint Thomas, etc.). Assuming all goes according to plan, expect an April 28 release via Black Balloon Records in Norway with an international release to follow soon thereafter. The band will tour Europe with fellow Norwegians Dominic starting in late March with homeland dates to follow in May.

Thomas had struggled with depression and addiction for a long time, often in a very public and candid way and it's a terrible shame that he came to such an unfortunate end. He will be missed. It's no secret that Saint Thomas (aka Thomas Hansen) has had some problems grappling with substance abuse, psychological issues, and the bad behavior those things too often entail. On this record, he lays it all out with 14 sad short songs that reference many of his lowest moments. The result is poignant and at times beautiful, reminiscent of masterpieces like Big Star's "Third: Sister Lovers", a heartbreaking wrencher of a dark sad record. Unlike that one, though, "There's only one of me" lacks the variety to keep it interesting across its total length. Saint Thomas's high voice starts sounding more whiny than tortured about half way through and the simple acoustic arrangements don't bring any excitement to the mix. It has some magnificent moments that capture the pain, confusion, and sense of loss in depression and addiction, but as a complete listening experience, it falls short.

Norwegian troubadour Saint Thomas is back from rehab with a new album entitled "There's only one of me". He'll be releasing it on his own Cornerman Records in Norway on August 28 and has licensed it for release in GAS via Make My Days Records in late September and also in the UK via YesBoyIceCream Records come October.
