Roxette has signed a new US deal with Capitol: http://www.dailyroxette.com/article.php/2211

Aftonbladet has the new Roxette video: http://www.aftonbladet.se/atv/player.html?catID=2672&clipID=11190

Roxette's brand new single "One wish" has been confirmed for a September 20 release in Sweden, September 22 in Germany. This is some of the first new material from the band in something like three years and is being used to promote the duo's upcoming greatest hits album and retrospective box-set, both of which I believe are due in October.

Marie Fredriksson of Roxette's new solo album will be called "Min bäste vän" and will be out on June 14. The first single will be for the John Holm-penned track "Sommaräng" and will be released on May 15.

Gotta love the 20 years ago picture.

Per Gessle (non-Swedes will know him better as one-half of Roxette) has started posting old demo tracks to his website for free download: http://www.sonofaplumber.com/

Son of a Plumber is no other than – hold your breath - Per Gessle from Roxette. You don't know who Roxette are? Well, you should count yourself lucky. Roxette were pretty big (especially in Germany) throughout the late 80s and early 90s. Their peak must have been when the monster hit "It must have been love" was featured on the "Pretty Woman" soundtrack. Per Gessle is always portrayed in the Swedish press as this dude with a massive – hold your breath, again - music collection and he seems to be totally in love with "Nuggets"-type music. Unfortunately, I don't think any of his compositions will ever be featured on one of the Nuggets compilations. This album is horrible and it reminds me of Roxette and the worst things about the 80s.

Either way it is immaterial when we put "Mopeds + Review" in the same bracket - you see, you'll know The Mopeds are no upstarts. It can be said they’re a well respected non-Stockholm band. They feature majestic trombonist and everyone's favourite producer/horn player Jens Lindgård (Bob Hund, The Cardigans, Eggstone, Tom Jones, Roxette, Ulf Lundell, St. Etienne, and many more. More recently you have heard them play with the band David & the Citizens and Damn!). Just Google "Jens Lindgård" for a long list of credits. The new disc, what's the deal?
No bloody idea. Have not listened!
Let's guess. The lazy taglines have them alongside fellow Pågs Brainpool and Eggstone, but we know The Mopeds will have gone all McFly on us instead! Mopeds parked up outside the US embassy of radio pop, MTV indie but then with attention to detail "Fortissimo" won't be knocked. They occupy peer status – check that list up above again.
"Fortissimo" will be fast, it'll be furious, it'll mess with your days and fill your nights. That's if you are done with first and second albums "The hills are alive with the sound of mopeds" or "The land of the three" - because without listening, rest assured the review will read positive. There are some things you can rely on.

Couldn't have said it much better myself, and I've actually heard the damn thing. Download a choice track from "Fortissimo" over on the right.
