I know not everyone out there has a memory like me, especially in these short-attention span times of instant gratification, but if you remember / act Now from way back when, they've flipped their name to Won and have a new LP out on imprint . Details/ordering info here: http://psychicmalmo.com/index.php?/project/psyke010/2/
I've yet to hear them myself, but I those dudes generally have good taste so I bet it's worth checking out.
The April edition of Famous for 15mb is now online and featuring selections from Scandinavian artists Fujasaki, VLDGMN, Now, Norra Varlinge Beast, His Hands Were Tiny And So She Said, Praktkopia and many more from all over the world: http://www.famousfor15mb.com/
The new CDEP "Wonders" from Swedish kraut/funk instrumental act Now is out, but you won't see it in your usual record stores. That's because it's a commissioned work to promote the Spanish shoe brand Wonders. So if you want a copy, it's not too hard to get one as the label Aa and friends Nosordo and EK-KE will be giving 'em away free with any order. Just ask!
Preview the new album from Swedish instrumental act Now right here: http://www.wonders.com/ I'm sure of the exact release date, but it will be out on AA/Wonders soon.
Instrumental rockers Now have booked time at a studio in Malmö to record their second release for the Aa label. They say the music has moved in more of a "dancefloor-killer direction," so I guess that means to expect more doubled-up hi-hats and funky bass. In related news, the band will also be doing some sort of remix project in the near future and will also be contributing a track to an upcoming Pontus Alv film. That's Pontus Alv the famous skateboarder in case you didn't know.
Aa Records, home of Det Gamla Landet and Now, has a new website design that looks awfully similar to my own: http://www.a-double-a.com/ Not that I'm complaining - it's always good to see other people posting dog pics.
New mp3 today from Now, yet another fine instrumental act from the Aa label. The sound quality on this cut may be rough, but I think it just adds to the 70s fuzzed-out vibe. Just listen to that throbbing bass line and the explosive drums - you can tell that these dudes were 100% tuned in and turned on when they tracked this. There's a level of excitement in their performance that simply cannot be faked. And it's infectious. If you like what you hear, be sure to head over to their label's website to download a few other tracks or maybe even purchase the EP.
This trio of Swedes play this really cool brand of instrumental rock that is a bit on the jazzy/funky side. Reminds me of the Euroboys' stuff from "Jet age" and is rooted in a nice '70s groove. This eight-track EP is almost hypnotic at times. Good listening for when you want to chill out in the afternoon with a drink in your hand. - Navy Keophan
