Today's new mp3 is a Midnight Oil cover from the Moonbabies off their brand new EP "War on sound" out now on the band's own fledgling label Moonbabies Music and licensed to Hidden Agenda (US), Sell!Out Records (NOR) and Quarterstick (DK). I probably sound like a broken record, but if you haven't checked this band out yet, you are seriously missing out on one of the greatest pop acts working right now. I usually try to avoid passing out grand superlatives such as "brilliant", but that really is the most apt descriptor for their craft. Every time I hear something new from these guys, it blows my mind by how good it is. Of course the new EP is no exception. It succeeds in every way an EP is supposed to: some new material, some tasteful cover tunes and some more experimental stuff that might not fit perfectly on a full-length. Just what I need to whet my appetite for the next album. Needless to say, very recommended.

The previously announced Moonbabies EP due out in April is actually turning out to be a mini-album as the band recorded eight new songs instead of just four. Once again, look for it on Chalksounds in Sweden, in the US on Parasol/Hidden Agenda.

Coolfer predicts that the newest Moonbabies album "The orange billboard" is an early contender for inclusion on many year-end lists and rightfully so I think: http://www.coolfer.com/blog/archives/2004/12/tuesday_shorts.html
The record came out last year in Sweden via Chalksounds and was released in the US on Hidden Agenda in early 2004.
Today's end-of-the-year top 10 list comes to us from Ola of the Moonbabies. Check it out! Their last album "The Orange Billboard" easily became one of my favorites last year and I'm eagerly awaiting new material which I hear should be ready sometime next year. Word on the street has it that the early demos are already mindblowing.
