The new Moneybrother album "Real control" will be released on April 15 via Hacka Skivindustri and you can now hear the first single "Born under a bad sign" at myspace: http://www.myspace.com/moneybrother
Various songs on the album were produced by Jari Haapalainen, Björn Yttling and Christoffer Roth and besides a few of his usual backing musicians, members of The Hives and Randy lent a hand as well.

Moneybrother is reportedly working on a new record which might just end up being a soul record. And apparently he'll be touring the US West Coast in April. Wait and see...
December is the season of sharing, so with that in mind, I'm letting Simon Tagestam handle today's mp3 post:
About 10 years ago, the first 45 seconds of "Begär" would have had me going through the roof with excitement, but now it mostly makes me a bit confused - how can someone in 2008 from Sweden make a song with that intro (combined with the rest of the song)? Obviously they've heard Bruce Springsteen, Moneybrother and Håkan Hellström, but is there any chance that they somehow missed all the watered down version of aforementioned artists that were doing the rounds about 4-5 years ago? It's not a bad song as such, it's quite catchy and it's sweet and short, but it is so extremely clichéd that it almost comes across as an ironic statement from someone taking the piss out of this particular genre. I bet a few of the kids will go crazy for this, especially if Boris och the Jeltsins can back it up with a great live show. It should also be noted that I'm not a guy who looks for originality when it comes to music. I'm a fan of lot of artists who sound like someone who sound like someone else, but whereas certain songs wear their influences on their sleeves "Begär" cuts off my ears with them (thus making me feel alienated and sad).

My promo copy of Anna Maria Espinosa's album "Glowing with you" didn't come with liner notes, but it hardly matters - I'm confident I can accurately guess a large number of the co-writers and backing musicians based on sound alone, if not for past associations. If you're at all familiar with the crowd she keeps, it won't be hard either - this is the sound of peak Stockholm rock circa 5+ years ago or thereabouts. Her time with Club Killers is more than apparent and so it's only natural that she also takes on the sounds of Moneybrother and, as you'll hear on the title track posted today, Weeping Willows. It's a classic WW-style ballad; I half-expect Magnus Carlson's croon to enter on every new verse though Anna does manage to pull it off on her own. She can't quite wrench out the teardrops like Magnus on the peak of that sad, sad chorus, but still, she soars admirably. Yes, it's terribly derivative, but come on, are you surprised? You shouldn't be.
