Samurai Cities delivers. And with a bang I might add. Uncompromising as a supporting act for indie-darlings Ladytron, these guys never made an effort to reach out and play the easy cards. It's dark, gloomy and right up my alley. The crowd however, consisting exclusively of Ladytron-fans waiting for the headliner to get up on stage, didn't really seem to appreciate these Göteborg-lads. But only for that reason, I assume. Nevertheless, with one record released, the band has already great qualities live and the danceable, electronic indierock that is "Cheap deluxe" is well adjusted onto the stage. Being more of a rawkdude I like the more distorted tunes where it sometimes sounds a bit like Dinosaur Jr. but hey, no one can really resist "My modest ones" with its similarities to The Knife and Bright Eyes (aiming at the "Digital ash in a digital urn"-record). Along with Mixtapes & Cellmates, this is by far one of the most interesting electronic acts Sweden has to offer at the moment.

The new self-titled Mixtapes & Cellmates album will be out March 21.

Nomethod has confirmed the release of the new Mixtapes & Cellmates album for March 21. A release party will be held the very same evening at Landet in Stockholm. Release dates for other territories (EU/Italy) still TBC, but it looks like May for Japan. In related news, the "If there is silence..." EP is officially sold out (though I still have a few copies) and will not be repressed. Instead, Nomethod will rerelease it bundled with their debut EP "Juno" as a new limited edition disc. Look for it in May.

The track "Quiet" is the first taste of what's to come from the band's forthcoming debut full-length, due out March 21 in Scandinavia with Italy and Japan to follow soon thereafter.

Nomethod reports that the new Mixtapes & Cellmates album is done and sent off for mastering. No word on an exact release date yet, but there will be a free two-track digital single preceding it featuring "Quiet" b/w a remix of the same by Cat Burglar. In other news, Mixtapes & Cellmates have been licensed to Myhoney Records for release in Italy. More details on that to come.

Nomethod reports that Mixtapes & Cellmates will be going into David Sandström's studio in Ånäset on Monday with Oskar Sandlund (David Sandström Overdrive) to begin recording their debut full-length. Oh, and David will be laying down some drum tracks besides just lending them his space. Expect a February release with a new netrelease EP for the first single in January.

Nomethod reports that the new Mixtapes & Cellmates EP "If there is silence fill it with longing" will be out on September 1. Preorders will be begin next week and as an extra bonus, it's being packaged with a free EP entitled "Longing remixed" featuring remixes (duh) and a Belle & Sebastian cover.

Nomethod has revealed that besides from new full-length albums and digital singles from both Mixtapes & Cellmates and Aerial, they'll be doing a comp this winter featuring a large cast of exciting Scandinavian artists.
