It's been a long time since I've seen that many bad haircuts in one band. Did they hire their stylist away from The Ramones or Iron Maiden?

Aftonbladet has the new Melody Club video for "Take me away" available for streaming: http://wwwb.aftonbladet.se/vss/streaming/tv_fonster/0,5208,m0no040701melodyclub,00.html

Melody Club's brand new single "Take Me Away" comes out in June. The band reportedly shot a Tarantino-influenced video which is supposed to emulate a 'rainy back-alley in Japan'. The new as-yet-unnamed full-length comes out August 25.

Melody Club will release their brand-new single "Take me away" on June 30. A video is on the way and you can call either 08 52715195 (or +46 852715195 internationally) to hear a preview. Apparently it's just a regular phone line so no additional charges will apply besides standard long distance billing. In other news, the band got a favorable write-up in the UK mag Q. Check it:

With Duran Duran back in business and the Scissor Sisters leading the charge of the neo-'80s revivalists, Swedish dandies Melody Club arrive perfect timing. This debut, a Number 1 hit back home, is unashamedly cheesy, its electro power-pop tunes recalling A-ha and OMD, and carrying a sense of euphoria akin to Suede's "Coming Up". There are echoes, too, of Suede's world-weary comedown song on the slow, wooxy "My Soft Return", whole best of all is the disco-rock of "Stranded Love", its dazzling, hi-energy Euro-pop remining of Abba at their peak.

When will lazy reviewers stop feeling necessary to cite Abba in their reviews of Swedish music? At least it is sort of relevant here, but it's still annoying.

Melody Club checks in from Delta Lab Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark where they are currently working on their new album with producer Thomas Troelsen to report that their new single will hit radio on June 7. As for the official release in stores, that won't happen until June 30 which will be just in time for the Kalas tour. As for the album, that's scheduled for a late August release.

80s synthpop throwbacks Melody Club and the new Swedish supergroup The Gmeyner (members of Bergman Rock, Bear Quartet, Weeping Willows and Urga) have been added to the Kalas tour lineup.
