Anchorless sign with Play/Rec

Ex-Lack act Anchorless has been officially picked up by and will be releasing their debut full-length "Every nook and crany" in February.

Presenting: 300hz (ex-Lack)

Check out 300hz, a new Danish act featuring ex-members of Lack: http://300hz.wordpress.com/
The band will make their live debut on December 10 at Stengade 30 in Copenhagen and a 12" will follow sometime in the new year.

MP3: Atlas Losing Grip - All in a days work

Atlas Losing Grip is my summer jam. Earnest, politically-minded hardcore is a rare breed these days, so it makes me pretty damn excited to hear something like this, especially when it's done so damn well. Seriously, has there been any other modern bands besides maybe Lack that do this sort of thing and are worth noting? If they exist, I don't know about them. Powerful hooks and a powerful message, a perfect combo. Bonus points for the Aleister Crowley quote, an inclusion that makes a lot more sense when you know that vocalist Rodrigo Alfaro also runs the label . But yeah, very very recommended! For all the great raw hardcore being made these days, it's really nice to hear something from the other side of the pop spectrum.

Rising to release 7" via Red Tape

Rising will be releasing a new 2-track 7" via Danish DIY collective featuring "Legacy of wolves" b/w "Daughter of the sun", their first recordings with new drummer Jacob Johansen (Lack, The Fashion).

Rising gets a new drummer, more

Drummer Martin Niemann (ex-Marvins Revolt) has decided to take a break from music and has resigned from his place on the throne for Danish heavy rockers Rising. Jacob Johansen (Anchorless, The Fashion, ex-Lack), who has already previously sat in with the band back in late 2009, will be taking his place. As for the future, the band has cancelled their show with Moloken on May 21 and will instead debut the new lineup on May 28-29, in Göteborg and Malmö respectively, their very first Swedish dates. Otherwise, the band plans to work on their debut full-length for next six months or so and will be touring Europe in September.

Download Anchorless

It wasn't supposed to happen until tomorrow (May 1st), but it appears that the new Anchorless (ex-Lack) EP is already available as a free download direct from the band and label : http://www.ponyrec.dk/music/download/ANCHORLESS_Anchorless.zip

Anchorless signs with PonyRec

Anchorless, the new band from ex-Lack members Jakob Nielsen and Jacob Johansen, have been picked up not by as I would assume, but by the similarly-named . Look for their self-titled debut EP in April.

New songs from Achorless

Anchorless (ex-Lack) are streaming a couple more new tracks at myspace from their upcoming EP: http://www.myspace.com/anchorlessdk

Two thoughts for a Friday:
#1. Lack as a damn good band.
