Live report: Jeniferever + Tiger Lou @ Tack! Tack! Tack!, London UK 02/13/06

TONIGHT: Tiger Lou and Jeniferever at Tack! Tack! Tack! Yeah, I know it's sold out, but if you waited too long to get tickets, you only have yourself to blame. Don't make the same mistake with next month's show featuring The Embassy: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/8984

Heads-up: Less than 25 tickets left for next week's Tack! Tack! Tack! show with Tiger Lou and Jeniferever. When they're gone, they're gone for good so get on it if you want in. The support slot for March will be confirmed shortly.

Be forewarned: the upcoming Tiger Lou/Jeniferever Tack! Tack! Tack! show on February 13 is in imminent danger of selling out. Jeniferever's label Drowned in Sound will be buying up a lot of remaining tickets for various industry types, so if you want in, you better get your act together: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/8678

Speak of things Tack! Tack! Tack!, pre-sale tickets for next month's show with Tiger Lou and Jeniferever go on sale tomorrow at www.wegottickets.com. £7.00, all taxes included. Also, be sure to mark your calendars for the other shows that Tiger will be playing in the UK such as February 15 at Hanbury Ballroom and the 16th at 93 Feet East, both w/Firefox AK and La Tour. Don't blow it! This is something not to be missed.

Swedish postrockers Jeniferever have completed work on their debut as-yet-untitled full-length album and it will be released on March 13 via UK label Drowned in Sound. The first single will be released as a 7" on February 13 and will feature the song "From across the sea" b/w the exclusive track "Closing in". A video for the a-side will be made by Rikkard Häggbom in early January. For samples and tourdates, check out their myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/jeniferever (Note: they are playing Tack! Tack! Tack! in February)
In other Jeniferever news, the band will also be releasing a split 7" with friends Vague Angels in early January. That record will feature the song "Magdeleno" which happens to feature guest vocals from Chris Leo of Vague Angels.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Swedish post-rock is on the rise. Bands like Logh and Audrey are already receiving international attention, but there's also plenty of worthy up-and-comers. Caterpillar Ghost is one of those bands. The group has been around for quite awhile it seems, but the new EP "My beautiful revolution" that just came out last month on Signature Tune in the UK is my first exposure to them. Their sound doesn't exactly stick to the epic soundscape blueprint of GYBE! and the like - instead, they dabble in other stylistic modes and choose to mix things up with creative off-kilter rhythms and weaving guitar lines. The song I've posted today covers all the bases and shows just how versatile these guys can be. It's also worth noting that CPG features one-quarter of the members from fellow Swedish post-rockers Jeniferever who I understand are currently recording their debut album at Tonteknik in Umeå. Either that, or they will be soon if they aren't already done. Anyhow, that's another name to potentially watch out for in this genre. Wait and see!

Swedish postrockers Jeniferever have signed with UK-based label Drowned in Sound. The band plans to record this summer and will release their debut full-length either in late 2005 or early 2006.

Like Appleseed Cast, these guys play dreamy pop that often stretches into epic post-rock territory. They've certainly got a lot of good ideas and the right instincts and I especially like the bits where they incorporate extra instrumentation such as strings and trumpet, but are a bit lacking when it comes to songwriting and arrangements and subsequently lose me in the big picture. I think if they worked on doing better transitions and added a bit more dynamics, they'd do okay.
