MP3: I'm From Barcelona - Lower my head

I've still got a bunch of work to do today dotting my i's and crossing my t's, so big ups to new contributor Stefan Nilsson for handling today's mp3 post:

As previously reported, I'm from Barcelona have undertaken an ambitious project where all 27 of their members have written one song each for their new album. The songs can be found on a triple vinyl (available to buy here) that is released today; they're also giving away the songs for free on their website, one per day starting today. First out is Daniel Lindlöf's song "Lower my head". It's a very good start for the 27 songs, there's a bit of an Interpol vibe and the chorus is very catchy. It also has that Joy Division/electro feel that recently has gone from being hip with the few to very popular with the masses. If all the 27 songs are as good as this, we're in for a real treat!

MP3: Slaraffenklang - You win

The name "Danish Dynamite" actually originates from the Efterklang + Slaraffenland US tour that took play last May, a collaboration that resulted in Slaraffenklang -- a twelve-man mutant hybrid that made their live debut at the Sono Festival in Rødovre, Denmark on November 8, 2008. They'll be doing it again at SXSW, except unfortunately not at the March 20th gig I'm involved with, but instead at the Hometapes Friend Island Party the following day. I'd tell you the full details, but hey- not my party, not my deal so you do your own homework. But what I will do for you is provide an mp3 from that debut performance so you can hear the band, whether you are heading to Austin or not. Either way: "You win" (That is, assuming you can appreciate a band that sounds like a postrock I'm From Barcelona on steroids and hallucinogens)

This album is pure happiness overdose! Throughout its 35 minutes there is not a sign of a single minor key scale. Bodebrixen remain loyal to pop orthodoxy and invite you to an endless and effortless sing-a-long. Upbeat melodies backed-up with trombones, trumpets, synths, xylophones, male/female harmonies and naïve lyrics such as: "I lost my job and now I'm sleeping, all the days are all the same and I can't say which day it is." It would be unfair to say that Bodebrixen sometimes sound too similar to bands like I'm From Barcelona and Architecture in Helsinki since this Danish duo is slowly forging its own personal sound, which is undoubtedly based on very good songwriting. Bodebrixen's debut is the perfect reminder of how good pop music is supposed to instantly stick into your head and stay in there for a while.
