RebekkaMaria & The Hymnboy present "Friendly duets"

Danish artists RebekkaMaria and The Hymnboy (aka Jonas Petersen of Hymns from Nineveh) are releasing a live duet album called simply "Friendly duets", to be released digitally on April 30.

"Anywhere with you" is the first single from Hymns from Nineveh's upcoming Christmas album "Endurance in Christmas Time".

Hymns from Nineveh announce new Christmas album

Hymns from Nineveh, the "devotional folkpop" project of Danish artist Jonas H. Petersen, will be releasing the new album Endurance in Christmas time" on November 21. Said album will include the 5 songs from 2009's "Uncomplicated Christmassongs" EP plus 8 new ones. Also, though is indeed a Christmas album, Jonas says the subject is far more complicated: "These songs are about enduring the Christmas time. How to deal with loss, loneliness or despair in the Christmas time. But also - the songs discover what Christmas is about, and what comfort and joy the Christmas time can bring." As a fan of Hymns of Nineveh's previous work and a longtime Grinch, I can dig it.

With No and Legs (ex-Attrap) confirm debut album

Danish act With No Arms and Legs, featuring 3/4ths of the now-defunct Attrap (whose remaining quarter is now Hymns from Nineveh), have confirmed that they will be releasing their self-titled debut on June 20 via It Was Gnarled. I've been on kind of a negative trip recently, either damning with faint praise when I'm not being outright scornful and I know it's a bummer. It's a bummer for me too because it turns into a downwards spiral and, honestly, I really don't hate everything even though it often feels that way. One thing I wholeheartedly do love: the new Hymns from Nineveh album. I've been a fan of the Hymnboy Jonas Petersen since hearing his previous act Attrap and the few samples he's dropped while working on his album have been quite nice, but the end result of the finished work is absolutely lovely. Spiritual music can be a gamble as there are so many potential pitfalls, but when it works, there's nothing else so soothing. Like the hug of a favorite blanket or the feeling delivered by your favorite comfort food, it's a kind of satisfaction that radiates from the inside out. It puts the world at ease and, for a little while, all is well.

Mechanical Bird present new EP

The excellent lofi Danish indie/twang act Mechanical Bird (aka Jakob Brixen) has a new EP called "Daughter of the wind" available via Washington Inc Records and two tracks from it can be previewed at Bandcamp: http://mechanicalbird.bandcamp.com/album/daughter-of-the-wind
