Hebosagil - Nurkkapöytä

A new tune from the mighty Hebosagil off the new cassette comp "Klassinen kokoelma #1". Other contributors to said collection include Viisikko, Vene, Turhuus and more.

Hebosagil - Herätys

Hebosagil's latest 7" "Herätys", now streaming in full via SoundCloud. Essential listening.

Latest Hebosagil now available for streaming/download

Following in the tradition established with their previous albums, Finnish noiserockers par excellence Hebosagil have posted their latest work "Ura" for free streaming/download. See here: http://hebosagil.com/2012/ura/
If you like music that is dirty and heavy, you need this.

Hebosagil - Ura (sampler)

Hebosagil is now streaming 5/7 of their new album "Ura" at Soundcloud. Still very highly recommended.

MP3: Hebosagil - Keskipäivän aurinko

Hebosagil's new album "Ura" finds them realizing the progression hinted at on their various recent splits (w/Viisikko and Two Beats Off), fully shedding their metal skin and emerging as a dangerous noiserock beast. Still heavy as hell, just in a different way: less low end and screaming leads, more dissonance and jarring rhythms. Still a great band too, now someone just needs to step up and press all their full-lengths to wax (not it!).

Hebosagil - Ovet auki

Someone messed up when they uploaded this file because the sound quality is totally jacked, but who knows? Maybe they'll fix it by the time you hit play. Regardless, new Hebosagil is always good and I'm stoked to see that Finland's finest will be releasing the new album "Ura" on April 13.

Aversionline recommends Throat

Aversionline recommends the new 7" EP "Adult situations" from Finnish heavy noiserockers Throat: http://www.aversionline.com/blahg/2011/02/09/throat-adult-situations-7/
I randomly downloaded the band's earlier cassette release (available here) after seeing them listed on some shows with Hebosagil and was likewise stoked on the band. Judging by that short sample, I'd wager the new 7" is a serious bruiser and would love to get my hands on a copy.

Hebosagil post split track for download

Hebosagil/Two Beats Off split coming soon

Finland's Hebosagil, one of favorite acts and also one of the heaviest, will be releasing a split 7" with fellow Finns Two Beats Off this summer. Hebosagil's contribution will be the single track "Polku" while TBO will provide three cuts, one of which is streaming at myspace: http://www.myspace.com/tbofinland

MP3: Frivolvol - It smells like something died here

I don't have money to burn, but if I did, I'd put out a comp with the best, most nihilistic, purely negative and dystopian-minded bands Scandinavia has to offer. And I don't know about how things look from where you sit, but I consider it to be the sound of our current zeitgeist and guess what? There are more than a few excellent specimens that fit the bill -- Haust and Hebosagil are two prime examples I've brought up in this context before; Frivolvol makes it a trinity. Listen, it takes a lot of effort to sound this ugly and it's obvious these dudes are pissed. Musically speaking, this is actually one of Frivolvol's more tamer moments (that instrumental section is almost... pretty), but those vocals sound like gargled glass; from the high-pitched screeches to the harsher, more forced low notes. His pain is yours to share. Unfortunately I wasn't provided a lyric sheet with my copy of their new album "Blades of steel", so I can't compare and contrast with the utter hopelessness expressed on previous record "Who needs maps when we got time", but my gut feeling is that things have not improved. All the better for us, the listeners, probably not so much for the guys in the band.

Hebosagil posts new version of 'Ei ole'

Finnish crust-heavy act Hebosagil has posted a new live-in-the-studio version of the track "Ei ole" on myspace: http://www.myspace.com/hebosagil
Said cut originally appears on the band's split with fellow bad-vibe Finns Viisikko.

MP3: Hebosagil - Temple

I should have probably talked this up a few months ago when it first came out, but it kind of doesn't matter because Hebosagil's debut EP "Cosmic" still sounds just as good today as when it was first released as a digital download back in 2007, likewise as it did when Rusto-Osiris reissued it on CD earlier this year. I try not to be one of those "the demo was the best!" sort of guys, but it's true so far -- the full-length follow-up "Colossal", though quite good, was not great. "Cosmic" remains one of the most punishing releases of the 00s so far and tracks like "Temple" prove it. It encompasses all things heavy: brutal, detuned riffs; blazing, face-melting leads; painful, harsh vocals; and so on and so forth. I just love the rawness of it all, too -- you can't talk about Hebosagil without bringing up just how distorted and crazy the recording is. It's completely disgusting, yet every instrument somehow remains distinct. I don't know how they did it, but they win. Other than maybe Haust, no other band brings the sound of the new world dystopia to life better than this.
