Iceland Music Export on "Iceland: Beyond Sigur Rós", a new not-for-profit 30m documentary on the Icelandic music scene which is available for free streaming online: http://www.icelandmusic.is/News/1684/Iceland--Beyond-Sigur-Ros---New-Music-Documentary--/default.aspx
Featured artists include Ólafur Arnalds, Hafdis Huld, Mugison, Bloodgroup, For A Minor Reflection, Seabear and more plus a number of behind-the-scenes folks such as journalists and producers.
Icelandic post-rockers For A Minor Reflection are back two years after the release of their debut "Reistu þig við, sólin er komin á loft..." Their second collective effort is called "Höldum í átt að óreiðu" (Icelandic for "Heading towards chaos"), and was produced by Scott Hackwith, also known for his work with The Ramones. FaMR now also have got a new drummer, Andri Freyr Þorgeirsson. It's a Trap! correspondent Vasilis Panagiotopoulos recently caught up with guitarist/keyboardist Guðfinnur Sveinsson in Reykjavík to discuss the new developments. (Íslenski Barinn was packed, so apologies for the bad sound quality)
Ja Ja Ja will be throwing a special Nordic showcase on May 14 for the occasion of London's Great Escape Festival featuring Susanne Sundfør, Jaakko & Jay and For a Minor Reflection. More details: http://www.jajajamusic.com/news.php?id=33
Other Scandinavian acts performing at this year's festival include Choir Of Young Believers, Erik Hassle, Simon Says No!, Ingrid Olava, Joensuu 1685, Megaphonic Thrift, Seabear, Vuk and possibly others, but I can't tell because their website is a piece of shit.
