MP3: Firefox AK - Winter rose
I had a feeling the new Firefox AK single would be good, but this good? Nope, no way! Sorry to underestimate you Andrea! What I like best about the track besides the obvious appeal of the husband/wife duet is how damn sparse it is. There's a bit of synth, but it's pure garnish - really, it's the rhythm and vocal tracks that carry it. It also appears that living in Berlin causes you to eschew guitars as there's barely any to be found here. It remains to be seen whether Tiger Lou will follow in a similar direction with his upcoming record, but I know they've both been listening a lot of techno and it shows. Otherwise, I can only begin to imagine how amazing the remixes for this track will be. This album version is fantastic, but I wouldn't be surprised if a b-side knocks it out of the park.
Firefox AK - Winter rose (ft. Tiger Lou)
The new Firefox AK single "Winter rose" (ft. Tiger Lou) is now officially confirmed for release on January 30. As mentioned before, it will feature remixes from Özgur Can, Tellevika, Assid and Jimmy O. There's also a video on the way from director Robinowich.
The first single from the new Firefox AK album "If I were a melody" will be "Winter rose". It features a guest appearance from husband Tiger Lou/Rasmus Kellerman and will include b-side remixes from Özgur Can, Tellevika, Assid and Jimmy O. Look for it in mid-January. As for the album itself, it's still due out on February 20.
Razzia has confirmed that Firefox AK's new album "If I were a melody" will be released on February 20.

MP3: Las Puertas - Born in the NYK
With new albums from both Tiger Lou and Firefox AK due in the next few months, I figure it's a good time to revisit the Rasmus and Andrea Kellerman's collaborative project Las Puertas. Formed as a sort of "primal scream therapy" outlet for the couple, the band gives them both an excuse to let loose a little more than they usually would. So yeah, expect things to sound a little more loud and raw than you might expect. While nowhere near as harsh as yesterday's mp3, this is definitely more punk than their main acts. Great stuff - maybe not quite enough to tide you over until those new releases are out, but hopefully it helps.

Speaking of Razzia, if you check out the new site you might also notice the news that Firefox AK has been picked up by Minty Fresh for North America and will be releasing her album "Madam, madam" over here on September 4. Congrats Andrea!

Really looking forward to her new record when it comes out later this year.

Live @ Dingwalls Camden, London, 02/20/07
The line outside snakes it's way around to Camden Lock where dealers serve up weed by day and by night the vinyl junkies adorn this patch waiting for the gig of the night in London: Junior Boys with Firefox AK. This is a sweet billing for Firefox AK witnessed by the day-glo, very nu-rave crowd. She opened with "What's that sound" – rapturous applause followed marking her acceptance into the gang. Dressed impeccably in a blue acetone coloured pinniffer made from the sort of material that bed sheets were made of, the sort which lit up the room with static electricity giving off a indoor wirework display - a bit like the rendition of "Love to run". Yes, what Andrea Kellerman does on stage is this: she is intense, seeks perfection, looks hell-bent on what she is doing, and then in one flash of her smile lifts that focus and atmosphere with the saccharine which is her voice.
The sound could have been better. It always could be – in every venue – yet with this and pounding basslines, sharp guitar effects and the sweetest of vox. "The draft" missed the duet dynamic of her 'old man Rasmus, yet "Madame! Madame!" set out the Kellerman stall just fine to finish a short set.
