Norway's Datarock reports that they'll be recording their debut full-length in October and hope to see it released sometime around spring next year. Apparently, Mikal, the head of their label Èllet Records, is taking a sabbatical from the biz, so the band (and everyone else on the label) is free to do what they way. That means there's no word on who will eventually release the record, but it also means that the group is working on repressing the "Computer Camp Love" EP themselves. As for other future plans, they're going to try and book some shows abroad this fall. I'll be sure to keep you updated.
As for what will happen to the rest of the bands on the Èllet Records roster, I'll try to find out.
I'm not sure why I didn't hear any advance notice about it, but Evil Tordivel's album "A fine young man" received proper release in the UK and some other European countries this week. Long-time readers might remember my review from ages ago. Anyhow, the album has grown on me quite a bit since then and it's well worth checking out. It's still a bit of a bewildering listen for one sitting, but that can be a good thing. There's talks of a small tour this coming fall with labelmates Datarock, but nothing's been set yet. That group's own release, the "Computercamp Love" EP, received the full UK/Europe release recently as well.
After a long bout of silence, Norwegian electro act Datarock checks in with some updates. First off, keyboard player Tom left the group last August and the remaining two guys decided to soldier on without him. They'll still employ people from their 40-some 'associated members' list as needed at future gigs, so keep on the lookout. In other news, the group recorded some basic tracks with Vilunki 3000 (And the Lefthanded, Uusi Fantasia) while on tour over in Finland. No word on what will come of it, but I'll try my best to keep you posted.
