will be handling the release of the new Daniel Gilbert (ex-Broder Daniel, Håkan Hellström, etc.) 7" single "The soul of a fool" featuring the a-side "Led 2" b/w "The smell o'thunder". Official release date for the digital version is set for September 19, physical vinyl to follow later. As for his new album, he's currently working on it with Olle Björk and Per Stålberg at Welfare Sound Studio in Göteborg, so maybe later this fall?
Ex-The Ark drummer Sylvester Schlegel will step aside from his role as frontman for The Guild to record a solo album with producer Mattias Glavå (Broder Daniel, Håkan Hellström, etc). Of course he won't be totally alone, two fellow members of The Guild will contribute as well.
A preview of the new Lena Philipsson single "Nästa säsong", written by Björn Olsson and Kaah and produced by Mattias Glavå (Anna Järvinen, Broder Daniel, Joel Alme, etc.). Lena's as-yet-untitled upcoming album will be out on November 30 and boasts a diverse cast of other cowriters, including Veronica Maggio, Christian and Vanessa Falk, Kleerup, Kaah, Dungen, Mauro Scocco and Markus Krunegård.
If you've been reading this site for awhile, hopefully you've learned how to read between the lines as to whether or not I like something without me necessarily coming out and saying it. Or at least you've figured out my tastes well enough to make some educated guesses. Being said, I've linked up a lot of really mediocre crap in recent memory and I'm really sorry that I haven't been able to balance it out with lots of quality mp3 posts or well-spoken reviews. We do what we can, but resources are slim. Accept my apologies along with an mp3 of solid Swedish goth rock from Principe Valiente. The band's self-titled debut is out now via and should appeal to all fans of shoegazey dark pop such as Broder Daniel or Interpol.

Things I've learned today: Peter Dolving will talk politics for hours, Jonas Björler says The Haunted is gay, Those Dancing Days have earned your respect, Tove Styrke's signature dish is pannacotta. Also: Björn Kleinhenz is working on an acoustic album, young panda girls with Broder Daniel patches still exist and Swedish beer is getting much, much better.
Got a new track for you today from Austisterna, a Göteborg-based act named after Stig Larsson's debut novel. Though I have been bestowed with the exclusive privilege of posting said track by label , I wouldn't be doing so if it wasn't good and so logically it follows that yes, it is indeed a fine piece of work and one well worth checking out. Fit for this grey season too, not just because I'd rather be hibernating as the song title suggests ("Sov" = "Sleep"), but also because the band's violinist provides an extra little heart-tug with her languid melody line laying over the delicate tinkling of piano, a melancholy sound that's perfect for these short, dark days. It's been three years since the band's debut "Sista scenen" and now the follow-up "Legender", recorded once again with producer Mattias Glavå (Håkan Hellström, Broder Daniel, Franke, Sambassadeur etc.), is finally ready and will be released on March 2 on both CD and LP, as well as digital. "Sov" is merely a taste though; the first proper single "Rachael Ray" doesn't come out until January 10 and I'm sure that if it's anything as good as this, we can look forward to a fantastic record.
Titiyo and Theodor Jensen (Broder Daniel/The Plan) have teamed up for a new group called Keep Company and will be releasing their self-titled debut album on December 29.

It too me an embarrassingly long amount of time to figure out that Makthaverskan were singing the title of the song as the chorus with a soft Swedish 'G', but I suppose that's all a matter of expectations and perspective. It's still a good song regardless, as I tend to find those sorts of naive foibles more endearing than not. Likewise, it also reinforces how close they are to early Broder Daniel, back when BD were anxious misfit teens as opposed to the elegant misanthropes they eventually grew into. Not that I expect or even desire a similar evolution for Makthaverskan; I'm fine with the status quo teen angst they've got going right now.
