is finally getting around to putting out the long-awaited Beyond Dawn rarities collection "The righteous underground" and are looking to secure preorders to make it happen: http://duplicate-records.com/beyonddawn.htm
If I had cash to throw around, I'd get right on it -- Beyond Dawn is/was one of the finest, most interesting bands to come out of Norway's metal scene in the 90s, evolving from doom-with-trombone to experimental art-rock and beyond. All of their records are worth having and I'm sure this vault of previously unreleased material contains many gems.

The Avant-garde Metal webzine has published yet another exhaustive interview, this time featuring Espen Ingierd of Beyond Dawn, one of Norway['s most criminally underrated acts and also one of my longtime favorite bands: http://www.avantgarde-metal.com/content/stories2.php?id=134
There's also a previously unreleased track hidden therein, so go check it out.
Finally, back to discussing mp3s I actually like. First impressions of Danes The Silent Section had me thinking early Madrugada or mid/late-period Swans, but further investigation makes me think of Bay Laurel, should you remember them. I think it must be those tenor vocals because they're certainly not as overly metallic as that band ever was. Beyond Dawn might be a good point of comparison too, though in that instance it's the sound of recording that reminds me of them. Both "In reverie" and "Electric sulking machine" had a similar brittle-ness to them. Of course the one thing that ties of all these points of interest together is the mood: black as pitch. The Silent Section play gothic rock, straight up. There are pop overtures and bits of neo-folk and sometimes they get a little heavy, but at its heart, it is what it is. Call it "death rock" if you want, but I say it's a cop out for people scared of the g-word. If you can embrace a little darkness, there's nothing to be frightened of whatsoever.
Beyond Dawn's new retrospective compilation "Bygones" which collects their earliest, doomiest material, is currently streaming at myspace: http://www.myspace.com/beyonddawnofficial
Great underappreciated band - these guys were/are way ahead of their time.
Beyond Dawn's long-awaited retrospective collection "Bygones", containing the group's early doom-heavy EPs "Longing for scarlet days" and "Up through the linear shades" plus various demo tracks, is finally on the way back from the printer and is available for preorder. Duplicate Records has a bunch of new releases on the way. First up later this month is Mëkanïk and their debut MCD "Der Mëkanïk Grööves", a band described as "black metal taking acid with 70s proggers like Van Der Graaf Generator and having sex with Black Sabbath," or as they say, "Black Space Doom". Ex-members from Dismal Euphony and Gehenna, so yeah, definitely interesting to say the least. Next up in late June is Norwegian viking metal act Eljudner with the 7" "Blod og kvad" and following that later this summer is a reissue of black-thrashers Infernö and their albums "Downtown hades" and "Utter hell" combined in a single set. As for the future, look for new releases from Warbastard and Beyond Dawn, details to be announced... eventually.
