Denmark's As We Fight is the kind of band I would have been really excited about ten years ago. Their blend of melodic Swedish death-metal and modern metalcore sounded fresh when Darkest Hour first did it, not so much today. The double-vocal attack is an okay variation, but it's not enough to distinguish them from the pack. The songs are decidedly average with only a few exceptional memorable riffs popping up here and there. Listen to the track I've posted today - the breakdown riff in the middle is killer, but they kill the momentum by relying on hanging chords to make the transition. The two parts might as well be separate songs. And let's face it - this sound is a dead horse anyway. Unless you're going to push the genre into new territory, why bother?

The band's new album "Midnight tornado" comes out October 30 in Europe on Dockyard1 (Europe) and in Benelux via Goodlife.

The footage comes from the band's appearance at last year's Fredericia Hardcore Festival in Denmark.

Germany's Dockyard1 Records has licensed "Black Nails and Bloody Wrists" from Danish hardcore act As We Fight for a worldwide release in May. The record was originally released by Good Life Recordings last April.

Bands confirmed to play the Fredericia Hardcore Festival at the Ungdommens Hus in Fredericia, Denmark on July 29-31: Cataract (SWI), Born From Pain (HOL), Endstand (FIN), Between Us (SWE), Liar (BEL), Another Breath (US), Jairus (UK), As We Fight (DK), Narziss (Germany), Death Before Disco (BEL), Dead Reckoning (BEL), Complete (DK), The Psyke Project (DK), Sygdom (DK), Haervaerk (DK), The Slips (DK) and one more tba. As We Fight is back from Antfarm studios and they report that they are done with recording 11 songs for their new album "Black Nails and Bloody Wrists".
