Been meaning to get this written up for over a week now, but I haven't found the time and now that I'm about head out on vacation to Sweden for a couple weeks, I figure I need to get at least something up. Listen to a selection of these records below via Spotify:
The Bombhappies have posted their entire new album "A good fire" for streaming in full via Soundcloud -- highly recommended for fans of jangly pop ala REM. Likewise, fans of such sounds are encouraged to check out Anchorless' latest record "Every nook and cranny" as well.
"Awry aesthetics" is the opening track of the upcoming Anchorless ablum "Every nook and cranny" and once again, it sounds a lot more like REM than their debut EP did.
"Settle with the signs" is the lead single from Anchorless' upcoming full-length debut "Every nook and cranny", due out February 6 via . Sounds like old REM to me which is not at all what I expected.
Gaffa reports that Danish act The Fashion has called it quits: http://gaffa.dk/nyhed/46070
No tears from me on that one. Look for members to stay musically active in other constellations, such as Anchorless, Stereo Science, Hammonds Harrington & Destroy and the label .
Drummer Martin Niemann (ex-Marvins Revolt) has decided to take a break from music and has resigned from his place on the throne for Danish heavy rockers Rising. Jacob Johansen (Anchorless, The Fashion, ex-Lack), who has already previously sat in with the band back in late 2009, will be taking his place. As for the future, the band has cancelled their show with Moloken on May 21 and will instead debut the new lineup on May 28-29, in Göteborg and Malmö respectively, their very first Swedish dates. Otherwise, the band plans to work on their debut full-length for next six months or so and will be touring Europe in September.
Anchorless, the new band from ex-Lack members Jakob Nielsen and Jacob Johansen, have been picked up not by as I would assume, but by the similarly-named . Look for their self-titled debut EP in April.
Anchorless (ex-Lack) are streaming a couple more new tracks at myspace from their upcoming EP: http://www.myspace.com/anchorlessdk
Still no word yet on when it's coming out or on what label (?), but I'll keep you posted.
