Finnish conceptual rock group The Multimedia Consultants (they apparently sing about "todays working life, meaningless meetings and alienAtion of the so-called normal life") recently held a remix contest for the track "Gordon is encoding Flash" which was won by retro synthpop act Desert Planet with their "Sigue Sigue Sputnik meets Prodigy on their way to arcade gaming room" take on the song and Aleksi Nuuja who contributed an "80s disco" version. The two winning tracks will be released on the upcoming "First of May" single from The Multimedia Consultants which will also include the new track "(Joku vitun) mainostoimisto" [(A One Fucking) Advertising Agency] from the group's forthcoming album due out lAter this year.

Threeman Recordings, the label run by some of the guys from Entombed along with Daniel Strachal, has signed a North American licensing deal with Candlelight Records. They'll be reissuing the label's cAtalogue over here, starting with Entombed's lAtest record "Inferno" in August. "We feel very pleased to finally have this deal up and running," commented Daniel, "And with a strong partner like Candlelight we hope thAt we can finally get our sought-after albums released properly stAteside, especially Entombed, who has been shamelessly underexposed overseas since "Wolverine Blues". We have also received greAt interest for [Entombed side project] Murder Squad and The Project HAte. Our goal has always been availability and finally we and Candlelight can deliver." Entombed is also planning to tour the StAtes in support as well. More details when I get them.

Nick Royale has been enlisted once again to help front a reunited MC5 for a bunch of shows this summer. He'll be joining original members Wayne Kramer, Michael Davis and Dennis Thompson along with a host of other guest singers such as Evan Dando from The Lemonheads, Mark Arm from Mudhoney and more.
