Go here for an interview with Magnus Carlson from Dagens Nyheter regarding his new solo album. (in Swedish)
Added some new music today from Hedningarna on the right. They play a perfect mix of traditional Scandinavian-style music combined with modern electrified elements that elevates them above the pack. Very recommended listening. Sorry I don't know the track names, but I have no way to figure them all out. Second half of the set to come later.

Due to a situation beyond their control, Katatonia has been forced to cancel their remaining summer festival dates. The full statement from the band:
"It is with great regret we must announce that the coming Summer festivals Katatonia had every intention of playing, have been confirmed cancelled by the organisers. These festival opportunities have been pulled from beneath the band by a third party and Katatonia had nothing to do with these decisions. This third party (that are NO longer working nor representing the band in any way) has given out false information such as "internal band problems" etc, that apparently should have been reasons for Katatonia not participating in any of the festivals. That is simply NOT true. The band members themselves were all recovering and enjoying their private holidays when they were informed about the situation yesterday and sincerely apologize to everyone who planned on coming to see them this Summer, and hope to see you at another time in the short future. Thank you for your understanding."

The (International) Noise Conspiracy live album that was recorded at the Oslo Jazz Festival last summer will finally get released in a few weeks. It features the entire show from start to finish along with special guests Jonas Kullhammar on saxophone and Sven Erik Dahlberg piano doing what can be considered a 'greatest hits' set of the band's material plus one new track. It probably won't get much in the way of wide distribution, so if you're interested in picking it up you should probably contact Moserobie, the label that's putting it out. Otherwise, look for it for sale at upcoming t(I)NC gigs.
In other news, the band reports that they are still holed up in Umeå in writing mode for the new record and have about 20 songs ready to go. No studio date yet, but they say they "feel very inspired and excited to start recording the new album."
Busted Heads Records reports that the new Randy "Cheater" 7" is done and ready for ordering. First 500 copies are clear vinyl. Also out now is the Razors Edge "Thrash March EP". Check out an mp3 from that release here: "Future President / Born Again". Up next will be a 7" from Trapdoor Fucking Exit called "DOA/Cause & Effect" due out sometime later this year.
Also from Busted Head comes this link to a number of Umeå Hardcore demos available to be downloaded. Among the bands featured are Damn Right with Miss Blingbling from said label along with Inti, a new band with ex-members of DS-13, Cult Of Luna, Separation and Greed.
