Also coinciding with the festival, Link TV (formerly "WorldLink TV") is airing a special 30-minute Nordic Roots special on September 13, at 8:30 pm EST (5:30 pm PST). DirecTV or Dish Network subscribers should be able to pick it up. Videoes will be shown from the following acts: Bäsk, Frifot, Gjallarhorn, Aly Bain and Ale Moller, Ranarim, Annbjørg Lien, and Harv.

Four scores of songs written by the late Finnish composer Jean Sibelius have been found in a bank vault. The pieces were all part of a 12-song cycle dedicated to Sibelius' favorite singer Ida Ekman. Read more: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/3083904.stm

"Stockholm's best punkrock club," Club Suburbia, is reopening their doors for the season on September 27 with a show featuring The Flare-Up! and Je Nais Se Qoui along with the requisite DJs spinning tracks. Info and news for upcoming events will be available on their homepage, along with "pictures from every night where most of Stockholm's rock and punk celebs makes asses out of themselves." That's a good thing, right? Look under 'bilder' for you non-Swede speaking folks.

The rest of that Sondre Lerche live set is up now for downloading. I'd recommend even getting the talking tracks, because he's just that charming on stage.

Ancient is planning to start recording their new album soon, using both Mirage and Alpha-Omega Studios. The as-yet-untitled album is due out early 2004 on Metal Blade.

Lars Demian will be putting out a best-of compilation record called "Ännu mera jag- Lars Demians bästa" on September 17.

Backyard Babies have confirmed the title of their new album will be "Stockholm Syndrome" and it comes out November 5. The first single will be for the song "Minus Celsius" and the band will indeed be touring in support this fall.

Erlend Mokkelbost from JR Ewing and Jonas Thyre from Amulet have started a club night together in Oslo at Tekehtopa (aka Bar Babylon) entitled "Cobra Club". They promise 'musical anarchy' and will span tracks from a diverse set of artists such as Madonna, The Who, Clash, Drive Like Jehu, De La Soul, A-ha and The Locust. The first one is on Thursday the 11th and admission is free. "Vær der, eller drit deg helt ut" they say, or um "be there or be square" or something. More info: www.v8.no/cobraclub

Amorphis will release the new single "Mourning Soil" later this month. It will be the third single from the band's latest album "Far From The Sun".
