That new De Stijl single I talked about the other day will be for the track "My Own Way". Frida Sjöhlin is directing the video, which is said to be a collage of animation and film, in keeping with the band's "art-mod style." Look for it in October.

"Avanto is Helsinki's annual event of non-conformist music and moving image. The fourth Avanto Festival presents a wide spectrum of avant-garde and underground artists from different generations, whose work varies from formal explorations to political activism and beyond. The festival venues are Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, The Finnish Film Archive's cinema theatre Orion, Gloria Club, MUU Gallery and Huuto Gallery."

The event takes place November 20-23 and the program won't be finalized until October, but here's some of the musical acts set to appear so far: Terre Thaemlitz (USA), Ultra-red (USA), KK Null (Japan), Leif Elggren (Sweden), Mira Calix (UK), Pekka Airaksinen (Finland), Kari Peitsamo (Finland), Emi Maeda (Japan/Finland), Ibrahim Terzic (Croatia/Finland), Shinji Kanki (Japan/Finland), Helsinki Computer Orchestra (Finland), and Dubbing Mixers (Finland). A compilation CD featuring every artist as well as soundtracks to some of the films presented at the festival will be released on the eve of the event. Cult of Luna has posted an update of their current activities on their website. They just finished up a tour with US metalcore act Poison the Well and, as reported here yesterday, will soon be hitting the UK with Dillinger Escape Plan, JR Ewing and Beecher. They also say that they have already started work on writing for their next album and have been playing some of the material live. Recording is scheduled to commence sometime in the beginning of next year.

Moonfog recording artists Khold have set "Mørke Gravers Kammer" ("The Gravedigger's Dark Chamber") as the title of their new album, due out early 2004.

Mistie is shooting a video for the song "10 Times Guilty" this week. The band will also be appearing at Club Nirvana's one year anniversary party on September 26. Nirvana is a club at Tantogården (Ringvägen 24) in Stockholm and Dregen from Backyard Babies will be DJing the event, too.

Smalltown Supersound reports that Monopot has broken up. No reason was given for the band's decision.
