I've only had a chance to listen to the new Ricochets album "Isolation" a few times, but the song "No good" instantly jumped out at me. It's in a major key which is pretty much unheard of for these guys. Of course they still twist it around to bring out the anguish of the lyrics, but it still seems kinda... happy? Well, not really, but it is most definitely a change of pace from their usual downtrodden, noirish rock. What I like most about the tune is how epic it is - it reminds of Meat Loaf's bigger numbers. Not quite rock opera, but definitely dramatic. I approve.

Seriously, one of the year's best albums. Definitely the one record I've listened to the most so far.
Jenny Wilson's "Love and youth" will finally be released throughout all of Scandinavia on October 31 with the rest of Europe to follow early next year. Before going solo, Jenny was known as the frontwoman for First Floor Power. Her record was produced with help from The Knife.

The London show should be especially cool as JSBX will play the album "Orange" in its entirety.

Sondre Lerche is hard at work on new material as revealed here on his website. Nothing but songtitles and speculation at this point, but he will be going into the studio with his band Faces Down to record this fall. In addition to the upcoming Weeping Willows singles collection coming out in November, the band will also be releasing their first DVD on October 31. The disc will include a live concert from Tavastia in Helsinki along with an acoustic set from Bar Dubrovnik and a short film that claims to be "the untold Weeping Willows story" as inspired by "Meet the parents".
"Jävla kritiker!" (Fuckin' critics!) is the name of an interesting new comp from NONS, due out January 18 next year. The idea for the record is backwards - first the critic writes the review and then the musician creates the song. Artists set to appear include IAT favorites Isolation Years and Silverbullit along with many other fine artists such as Sophie Rimheden, Andreas Tilliander, Nicolai Dunger, Håkan Libdo and more. I've been saying these guys are horrible ever since I first heard them, so yeah - you won't hear me complaining.
