Ah... another band from Gothenburg. The moment I started listening to the quartet, I found myself going through my usual "What the hell does this remind me of?" routine. I was expecting something upbeat from the first sounds of "Marginal Cirkus" but it quickly changed when I listened to the rest of the tracks on this six-song EP. The other tracks, such as "Turn your fist" and "Soul survivor", are sort of trippy rock tunes that remind me of another Gothenburg band called The Soundtrack of Our Lives. I found myself losing track of time when listening to them, which is a good thing. Highly recommended.

Norwegian all-stars Ephemera, Stig Van Eijk, Trond Viggo Torgersen, Sgt. Petter, Sissy Wish, William Hut, Andreas Segrov, Gustav Lorentzen, Tor Endresen, Rune Larsen, Christine Guldbrandsen and others are teaming up to record the single "Vi tenner lys" by Jan Eggum as a benefit to the people of South Asia affected by the tsunami disaster. Denmark's Quartermain Records has announced the signing of Jacob Faurholt and his band Sweetie Pie Wilbur. The label will release their debut album "Queen Of Hope" on March 10, 2005. The music is described as "saturated with a gloomy and dusty expression, characterized by a charming amateurism and musical playfulness which gives the quite traditional songs a personal expression" and features guest appearances from Kåre Rolf Hansen of Tiger Tunes and Torsten Larsen from Larsen & Furious Jane.

Morningside Records has confirmed Larsen and Furious Jane's new album "I'm Glad He's Dead" will be mastered by Morten Bue in Copenhagen tomorrow. Look for it in April. Also coming up soon from the label is the debut full length "Aloud" from Jomi Massage. That one comes out March 8.

Nine is set to tour Scandinavia along with Motörhead during the second half of November. After that they'll be going into Dug Out studios in Uppsala, Sweden with Daniel Bergstrand and Örjan Örnklo on December 1st to record a new album.

Get a preview of Håkan Hellström's new album here. I'm not fully decided about my opinion of it overall, but there are most definitely a couple of outstanding tracks. Aftonbladet gives it 5 stars. The album comes out next week.
