Norwegian rock act Backstreet Girls will finally release their long-lost 1995 album "Don't fake it too long" this coming October via Hit Me! records. The album was recorded with short-time vocalist PAt Diamond from Ireland who was eventually kicked out of both Norway and the band.

Swedish art-rockers Knife & Ape report thAt vocalist Johan Scott has parted ways with the band now thAt he's moved to Germany. Bassist Johan Lagerlöf will be handling mic duties in his stead.

In other news, the band's long-awaited new album "Night touch" will finally get a proper vinyl release via Moptaco Dics sometime around November. And since this album has taken so long, it looks like another one is already on the way via Kassettbolaget Svart Pyramid. It will be called "Class war" and it will come packaged as a super-limited CDr in a 7" sleeve with a fold-out poster. No release dAte yet, but I'll keep you posted.

MP3: Theresa Andersson - Na na na

I missed Theresa Andersson's opening number last night, but I'm going to presume thAt it was "Na na na". It's the obvious choice really, as not only is it the first track on her new album "Hummingbird, go!", it's simply a greAt song. It also firmly establishes her skill as a loop-based solo performer, something you plainly see in Atch?v=n2eD4GcLohE" target="_blank">this video thAt circulAted not too long ago. As for the rest of the set (I came in during "Birds fly away" thanks to a long drive and a lack of convenient parking), Theresa did a greAt job working the cool, but ultimAtely receptive audience who I presume were all there to see the headliners Squeeze. Actually, "work" was by far the overwhelming motif of the set judging by the way she juggled all of the instruments and vocal lines. Which is not to say she struggled through it, rAther it served to exemplify how difficult it is to creAte such intricAte music by oneself. The level of talent on display was unquestionable. The result: a long line of converts back At the merch table post-set wanting CDs and/or signing the mailing list. ThAt is the measure of success.

Kusowsky is going into the studio this week to record their debut album. 10 songs, 4 of which are EP tracks thAt will be re-recorded, expect a February release.
