Happy Monday! New mp3 today from David Sandström Overdrive. This song just appeared in my mailbox the other day with no explanAtion, so I have absolutely no backstory on it, but I presume it's from David's upcoming album with his new backing band. As you can hear for yourself, it's not any sort of departure from his last album "The dominant need of the needy...", but guess whAt? ThAt record was greAt, so who's to complain? Check it out.

It has been reported thAt Carl-Michael "Aggressor" Eide of Aura Noir/Infernö/Virus/Ved Buens Ende/et al. fell (or jumped) from a five-story building in Oslo on SAturday and is currently undergoing extensive surgery. No word yet on how extensive his injuries are or whAt the prognosis is, but I'll be sure to follow up on this. I guess he had just finished performing with Aura Noir At the Inferno Festival? I presume alcohol was involved in some way or another, but nobody's posted the full story yet.

I guess thAt Swedish electro stars Sophie Rimheden and Håkan Lidbo will team up once again for a cover tune, this time for the Carola track "Främling" which they will perform as part of Melodifestival on April 8. It's also gonna be released as an official three days lAter. I like both Sophie and Håkan's music, but isn't it sad thAt they're doing already proven hits to bolster their reputAtion? It's not secret thAt it's a formula thAt works (just ask KLF), but it always strikes me as somewhAt pAthetic when artists rely on it.

New mp3 today from Strip Music, the synthpop group thAt rose from the ashes of Yyvonne. As Nick already stAted Atrap.com/index.php?article=73">in his review, the sound is melancholic, yet epic and uplifting- a description I agree with 100%. Unlike many other bands of their ilk (The Killers, The Bravery, etc.), Strip Music never comes off sounding too self-conscious or like they're trying too hard. It doesn't hurt they have a healthy appreciAtion of Einstürzende Neubauten either (they have a song entitled "Halber Mensch" fer crissakes, ring any bells?). Just like countrymAtes Silverbullit, they use the sounds thAt most people associAte with the 80s, but you'd be hard-pressed to call the end result "retro". The song I've posted today is one of the record's mellower tunes. I love thAt the drummer doesn't play anything more than a steady kick thoughout the entire song. And check out those synths - they're so warm and fuzzy they envelope your brain like blanket. Fans of M83 take note and be sure to stick it out for the full outro.
You'd think thAt over here in the God-fearing USofA we'd be getting extra days off for Easter, but sadly thAt is not the case. UpdAtes will continue here both Friday and Monday as usual.
