Garmarna - Gamen (live video)

Almost two years old at this point (it was recorded at 's 30th anniversary party in June '09), but only just now uploaded to YouTube. I just can't understand how vocalist Emma Härdelin manages to stand so still the whole time!

Adam Tensta - Like a punk (video)

I kinda like the production on this track, but I doubt I'll ever be a fan. Direct link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Qz3oz9m2AA

MP3: Jennie Abrahamson - Hard to come by

Jenny Abrahamson's label was kind enough to send me a copy of her new single "Hard to come by" and it's quite good, so I'm happy to reshare it with you. Definitely taking cues from Björn Yttling's percussion-heavy production style for artists such as Lykke Li, but with more of the melodicism of Asha Ali, it's a nice catchy tune with an insistent refrain and a playful ambience. The official release of said single is February 2, the album follows on April 13.

This collaborative debut from Sweden's Råd Kjetil & the Loving Eye of God and Orchestra Senza Testa is quite the enigmatic release given its unique perspective on the ambient genre. It's as if the creepy, digitized sounds of the early John Carpenter soundtracks found themselves mixed up with the earthy, natural sounds of Norway's Wardruna and somehow wound up as an otherworldly, out-of-body sonic experience. It's most evident on the first of the two tracks, "Flarkmyr'n" while second and final track "Orrvin över Nattmyrbäcken" offers a bleaker vision within the same realm. That said, the overall vibe of "Vinlinden" is one of an epic journey across vast expanses, where the natural sounds seem more implied rather than at the forefront of the compositions. This will appeal to anyone who likes to coil into their own headspace in order to travel to far off lands. Dark, ethereal ambience as nature wraps itself around the synthetic. An off-kilter bliss, almost.
