The Commander, the new solo project of ex-The Motorhomes drummer/main songwriter Peder Claesson, has confirmed that his debut album "When I lay my burden down" will be released on March 28 via .
Though I like the idea of making stiff indie kids perform synchronized dance routines, it doesn't seem so fresh anymore, at least not in this instance. Decent Tears for Fears vibe in the tune though.

Not that I take their opinion very seriously, but it appears that Aftonbladet is now attempting to charge access for their music reviews via the "Plus" program.
Acid House KingsCelebrating twenty years as a band is no small task, and Acid House Kings should be applauded for plodding their way through said time span, though with only five albums -- including this one -- their discography seems a bit thin when compared to other acts of a similar vintage. Their previous release, "Sing along with the Acid House Kings" found the band honing their precious twee-pop quite exquisitely -- the lyrics were not overly saccharine and the songs had a punching chorus, an atypical twee attribute. Six years on, we find them attempting to replicate the feel of the aforementioned album, but to rather dire results -- it is as meticulously crafted as any that Johan Angergård helms, however after such a long rest, one would expect to find the band challenging themselves to produce a refreshed, altered work. Instead, "Music sounds better with you" stabilizes itself as a reworking of its predecessor, only without the whimsical charms which made for repeated listens. Sadly, the Acid House Kings have delivered a record that feels nothing more than decent background music.

There's more than a few bands who call themselves Trust, but only one of them is a gnarly math-rock band from Denmark. Forget the French thrashers, the Canadian synth act or whatever other variation might pop in your head because none of them will be covered here. Much like their labelmates Obstacles, Trust excels at matching their instrumental acuity with heaviness and melody and comes out sounding very similar to two excellent bands local to me: C Average and Helms Alee. The former is an obvious comparison due to the drums + guitar duo format (stir it up, add plenty of octave pedal), but it's those soaring vocals and epic riffs that really make the band and are far more comparable to the latter. Similarily, I can only presume that they are likewise underrated, as these kinds of bands so often are. Get through the flurries of notes and take note of what you find on the other side!
Check out a tune from Tiger Bell, a new all-female hard-rock group featuring ex-members of Satirnine, Fare You Well and Rewind. I can always hang with good, solid rock'n'roll with strong harmonies, so this fits the bill perfectly. The band has a self-released 6-song EP out now, the entirety of which is now streaming at myspace: https://www.myspace.com/tigerbellband
