Clawfinger guitarist Erlend Ottem has announced his retirement from the music biz. "It has been a tough decision for me," he said, "but I have decided to settle down and focus on other directions such as family life and my profession." Why rock when you can actually make money being a software specialist, eh? There's no plans to hire a replacement as Bård Torstensen will handle all axe duties going forward.
Carnal Forge will going into Studio Underground on February 3 to begin recording their fifth album, tentatively due out sometime next summer through Century Media. Cardigans Country passes along word that the b-side to the new single "Live and Learn" will indeed be that cover of Black Sabbath's "Changes", most likely the version they recorded with the BBC. Sweet! Also from The Cardigans comes this silly feature with interviews of all the various members of the band's roadcrew, as done by bassplayer Magnus.
Dimension Zero has updated their website with some new promo pics and photos from the "Immaculate" video shoot.
Labrador Records has updated their site with some new sound samples from Afraid of Stairs and The Legends.
And the Sound has let the cat out of the bag about the new Chalksounds signee KO, the new band from ex-Him Kerosene frontman and ex-Breach guitarist Niklas Quintana. Well, it turns out to not be completely true as the band doesn't have a name yet and they're still working out details for the contract. However, I did heard a rough mix of a track without vocals and I can confirm that the sound is more akin to earlier HK material in that it's faster and much more rockin' than their later stuff. That part is true and confirmed. Classic Norrland-style indie rock, so you know I'm diggin' it and can't wait to hear the album when it's done.
Elin Sigvardsson has updated the gallery on her website. Look under 'blid'.
Hardcore Superstar shot a video for the track "Still I'm Glad" last week in Göteborg. No word yet on when it'll be done and ready for viewing.

You might've seen the news floating around earlier this week, but Andreas Melin aka Broadcaster D, the man behind Streetzone.com, is starting an 'inventive' new label called Pay Per Bag. The inventive part is that they are only producing limited runs of their releases on-demand and packaging em in a paper bag, hence the name. They also have declared that 50% of the profits will go to the artists, thus assuring consumers that the actual people responsible for the music are getting paid. Here's the upcoming releases they've got planned:
Afasi & Filthy - "1990nånting EP"
Akem - "Autodidakt"
El Sheriffo - "Det våras för sheriffen"
Caspian Onenine-86 - "Colony Vibe"
Ken - "Det bortglömda"
